Jim Gunner and Ed Kurt, superintendents at Perkins Schools and Margaretta Schools, respectively, are vying to be superintendent at Findlay Schools, according to the Findlay Courier.

An article posted to the Courier's website Thursday lists Gunner and Kurt as two of 10 applicants seeking the job.

When contacted Thursday, Kurt said he submitted an application a few weeks ago. The application process ended Oct. 25.

"It's an opportunity I'm exploring," Kurt said. "I'm very happy where I'm at. We've accomplished a lot and there's still a lot to accomplish, but I'm looking into that opportunity."

Gunner did not return a call Thursday evening seeking comment.

Findlay school board members hope to announce their selection in late December, according to the Courier. Findlay Schools superintendent Dean Wittwer is retiring at the end of the current school year.

Do you feel the asbestos emergency should be addressed instead of donating 1.7 million dollars to a new stadium??? Priorities....Perkins BOE! Fix the alleged asbestos problem first!

Kelly

No, not at all.

Bherrle

No, not at all 15th.

fifteenthgreen

What is wrong with you two???

Bherrle

Nothing 15th. It's not about Gunner. It's about the needs of the district. I happen to agree with the direction the board has chosen, and I agree with a lot of Gunners ideas.

I don't want to see Gunner leave, but if he does, he does. That will not change the challenges we are facing, or the direction I feel we should take.

Now, which way do you want it? You have been calling for Gunner to resign or be fired. You hear that he applied for another position and you criticize that ? Which way do you want it?

A lot of you no voters seem to think that yes voters have this love affair with Gunner. What is it you call us, Gunnerbots? Please, Our district is about much more than one man.

fifteenthgreen

He is gone, either way or the chances of this district getting anything done during his stay is zero. If this levy does not pass Tuesday and he remains on board, forget it! I think even you can figure that one out. All confidence is lost. What do you think is going to suddenly make over half of the voters change their minds, bherrle? I didn't criticize his applying for another position. I simply stated that I would feel betrayed. How can you work so hard for someone that never wanted to be here in the first place? It certainly isn't because of results!

Nemesis

Gunnerbot seems appropriate - since you appeared on this site you've unceasingly endorsed everything he's done, including subverting the consent of the governed. One wonders if there's anything he could do that would make you quit his fan club.

I think it's great he's looking elsewhere - it's the smartest thing he's done in a long time. If he really believes in this levy for anything but selfish reasons, he should realize that the most effective thing he could do to help it pass would be resign.

Get your Perkins pride back and support the students! Vote yes in November!

Cowboy

I just voted NO again! I also voted for Franklin and Ahner! Can't wait to see Gunnie's eyes when he hears that Franklin and Ahner are on the board! That just might be enough for Gunnie to throw in the towel! We can only hope and pray! Time to get this train back on track!

bobshumway92

Please hire Gunner!

bondgirlM

lol that's funny us in Margaretta School District want them to hire Kurt.
Well may the "best man" win :)

bobshumway92

I can't wait for the Breaking News Headline to be Gunner Resigns or Gunner Is Fired.

Good 2 B Me

Funny. The guy that called me and tried to get me to vote yes told me that Gunner planned to retire when his contract ended.

Another LIE!

VOTENO

Vote yes.

princedenny

Are you surprised that one of the pro-levy people, member of the Perkins BOE, or a Perkins administrator lied to you?

Good 2 B Me

Sadly, I am not surprised at all. I am being reassured that I have made the correct decisions.

Guess I'll be calling Findlay Schools tomorrow, and tell them Gunner is a very honest and hard working guy. And that they would be stupid not to hire him!

Strong Schools ...

They would be crazy not to hire him. It will be our loss! Vote yes and support the students. Support the future of our community!

SHOW ME THE MONEY dose that sum it up? I wonder how his loyal clones feel now.

Finn Finn

They are embarrassed that they were so easily duped, and PO'd because they look like fools now, but they're not about to admit it. (see Kelly and Bherrle ^_^ )

Kelly

Duped how? Look like a fool how? It's just a job and it doesn't matter who does it. It's JUST a job and not one for life. He's not the friggen Pope. I personally like Dr. Gunner but it really doesn't matter to me at all if he stays or goes. It's never been about him, it's been about the district. You people are the ones obsessed with him.

Nemesis

Then you should encourage him to leave - at this point he's nothing but a polarizing figure.

Strong Schools ...

Support the students in November. Check out the levy website for the facts!
