Jim Gunner and Ed Kurt, superintendents at Perkins Schools and Margaretta Schools, respectively, are vying to be superintendent at Findlay Schools, according to the Findlay Courier.

An article posted to the Courier's website Thursday lists Gunner and Kurt as two of 10 applicants seeking the job.

When contacted Thursday, Kurt said he submitted an application a few weeks ago. The application process ended Oct. 25.

"It's an opportunity I'm exploring," Kurt said. "I'm very happy where I'm at. We've accomplished a lot and there's still a lot to accomplish, but I'm looking into that opportunity."

Gunner did not return a call Thursday evening seeking comment.

Findlay school board members hope to announce their selection in late December, according to the Courier. Findlay Schools superintendent Dean Wittwer is retiring at the end of the current school year.

Good news.

Big Poppy

All the Gunner Cronies are probably on their way to Findlay to protest. Or still under his desk

Strong Schools ...

Classy! Vote yes in November and support the students!

"The Findlay City School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Superintendent to replace retiring Superintendent Dean Wittwer who has led the district for the last eight years. The Board seeks an innovative and creative leader in education and administration. It is preferred that the new Superintendent take office by July 1, 2014."

Can't Gunner start now?

Big Poppy

Hell I'll even buy him breakfast and drive him to Findlay if he stays!

No, we pay him mileage. He'd lose money if you drove.

Big Poppy

Well I'll drive his car and I'll walk back!

Good 2 B Me

Can we all write letters of recommendation?

Strong Schools ...

He gets paid milage to drive to meetings. Not to commute to and from home. Know your facts before you post. Check out the levy website and support the students in November!

I think this reeks of future school consolidation between Sandusky, Perkins and Margaretta. Gunner and Kurt know it's coming. It's sad but it's the only way to survive with the cuts in state funding.

St. Mary's enrollment would go up over 10 X's what they have now.

Gunnerbots stunned ? wake up now and vote No.

VOTE NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strong Schools ...

Wake up and vote yes. It is time to support the students!

Did all the yes ladies give up? Where are they?

Strong Schools ...

We are here. Vote yes in November!

Maybe if Gunner goes, you can hire Fox. He needs a job!

Good 2 B Me

Don't give them any ideas!!

Anything is better than Gunner.

Apparently Gunner can't win - you say that you want him to listen to the voters. Doesn't it seem like he is? People claim that they won't vote for the levy until he goes. Well, he listened to the voters and he seems to know that leaving will be best for the district because so many people seem to be under the impression that he is the sole reason for all of the problems in Perkins (that fact will soon be proven wrong - there are many reasons for public education to be failing right now. It's just easier to point fingers). So, once the new board has been elected to office and a levy is up, I expect that all you "no" voters will be switching your vote?

Yeah, I'm sure Gunner applied to Findlay because he thought it'd be best for Perkins. Sure. In reality, Gunner never had his heart in Perkins. It was just a stepping stone to pad his resume. This is the second time he's applied elsewhere while at Perkins. That ought to tell you something. And yes, once new leadership is in place with the BOE and we have a new super, I will entertain voting yes for a levy, as long as the millage is moved back and there's a reasonable levy proposed. No trust in this BOE or super, especially now. The silence of the Gunnerbots on this speaks volumes.

We are no voters and will NOT be changing our vote. Yes Mr. Gunner needs to go and he just proved once more why. There is no trust for him or the BOE. Until they totally drop the idea of a new school, come up with a plan that the tax payers can get behind and support (not the ideas of a small group and have that small group cram there idea down our throats) we will be voting no.

Strong Schools ...

Thank you, Azure! The "NO" people just want to complain. They have nothing better to do. Also, they never want to be the solution but they want to create more problems.

Support the students in November and vote yes!

I just voted NO again! I also voted for Franklin and Ahner! Can't wait to see Gunnie's eyes when he hears that Franklin and Ahner are on the board! That just might be enough for Gunnie to throw in the towel! We can only hope and pray! Time to get this train back on track!

1st off everyone of these articles have the same comments over and over and over, pretty much from several of the same people, for gosh sakes take a step back and breath! If you want Gunner to go get another job somewhere so bad then QUIT writing these comments all over a public forum, I`m sure Findlay knowing Gunner applied reads and investigates this mess. 2nd off, voting NO is fine for anyone who chooses but face reality they will get their money one way or another don't they always? Since when do we the people matter to anyone In a higher position? I think its hilarious how so many of you complain that renters don't feel the impact when something comes about with taxes, are you serious? Rent goes up when property taxes do so owning or rent everyone is going to feel! Hopefully we get past this mess in Perkins and find something new to dwell on because this has been run in the ground for far too long!

Those making the hiring decision in Findlay in all probability share Gunner's fascist ideology and endorse his behavior here. Unfortunately, Gunner's thinking is far from the exception among the administrators and leaders in public schools. Their universal message seems to be "hand over your wallet and your kids then go away and shut up because we're experts."

Vote yes and it will be over. Support the Students!
