Speedway hosts Super Nationals tonight

Racing events slated for Lorain, Norwalk, Fremont and Attica

The Sandusky Speedway will have the super nationals tonight featuring the season opener for the Midwest Supermodified Association (MSA) supermodifieds and the Main Event Racing Series (MERS) super late models.

The Ohio stocks and the hobby stocks will also be in action tonight.

In the MSA supermodified ranks, Trent Stephens was the 2013 champion, and three-time MSA champion Jeff Ganus is the 201MERS super late model champion. Both divisions took part in the open practice session at Sandusky Speedway Friday night in preparation for tonight’s blockbuster show.

The pit gate opens today at 3 p.m. with the grandstand admission starting at 4 p.m. The hot lap sessions start at 4 p.m. also. Qualifying is at 5:30 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m.

Adult admission is $22, $20 for seniors, $5 for ages 6-12, free to ages 5 and younger. Pit area admission is $35 for ages 13 and older, $10 for ages 4-12, free to ages 3 and younger.

Next Friday will be the Sandusky Speedway karting series. The gates open at 4 p.m., hot laps at 5:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Adult admission is $10, $5 ages 6-12, free to ages 5 and younger. Lorain County Speedway
There will be a Mothers Day special tonight with all ladies receiving half off the general admission price.

The modifieds, grand nationals, chargers and spectator stocks will be in action tonight. The parking lot drags will also be featured at 7:45 p.m. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $12, free admission to ages 12 and younger with a paid adult. A pit pass is $30 for all ages.

The pit gate opens at 3 p.m. with tech at 3:15 p.m. Grandstand admission is at 4 p.m. Qualifying is also at 4 p.m. There will be three sessions per division of 10 laps each.

Next week will be a family fun night featuring a kids gold rush and racing with the regular weekly divisions.

Summit Motorsports Park
The dragstrip has the Accel super series points meet today for the super pro, pro, sportsman, stock, super bike and junior dragsters.

The gates open at 8 a.m. Junior dragster time trials are from 9-10 a.m., eliminations are from 10 a.m. until noon. The remaining classes have time trials at noon, eliminations at 6 p.m. Adult admission is $15, $5 ages 6-12.

On May 16-18 will be the popular eighth annual Cavalcade of Stars. There will be dragsters, funny cars, motorcycles, Bob Motz and his jet Kenworth truck, jet funny cars and fireworks. Adult admission is $20 for one day, $50 for three days, free to ages 12 and younger.

Fremont Speedway
The oval will have the King Of The Hill match races tonight. The 410 and 305 sprints plus the dirt trucks will be in action. The gates open at 4 p.m., races start at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $14, $12 for Seniors, $8 ages 11-16, free to ages 10 and younger. A pit pass is $30.

Attica Raceway Park
The park will have the Eric Phillips 26th anniversary classic on May 16.

The Fremont/Attica Sprint Title 410 & 305 sprints along with the UMP late models will be in action. The 410 sprints have a $3,000 to win feature. The gates open at 5 p.m., racing at 7:45 p.m.
