UPDATED 11:30 a.m.

The Sandusky Police have provided what was given to them as the vehicle from Friday evening's hit and run... It was an unknown silver vehicle, possibly an Acura.  The driver was a heavy-set white male.

PREVIOUS STORY:
A vehicle struck a woman on Columbus Avenue in downtown Sandusky late Friday and then fled the scene, police and witnesses said.

A witness said the woman was backing her car from a parking spot when it struck a passing vehicle. When the woman got out to check on the other vehicle, it struck her and fled the scene. Police had few details available late in the evening and witnesses could not provide a description of the vehicle or the driver.

The incident happened at about 9 p.m. in front of the Sandusky State Theatre. The woman was taken by ambulance to Firelands Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Somebody is being protected

Obviously somebody's being protected no one's name was given in the car that was backing up. Anybody else's name would've been given what's the deal.

Like the people that flipped the power boat last year : )

Why should the victim's name be released? She did the right thing by getting out to address the accident. The problem is the hit and run. What a coward. It sure smells like he/she might have been drinking and didn't want a dui. They will have time to sober up before being caught.

What's worse a hit and run, fleeing an accident, or DUI? I'm not sure.

@ tsu-dho-nimh
If you back out of a parking space you are the responsible party if you hit somebody then the hit-and-run kicks him. DUH…

Tsu Dho Nimh

My point, Jerry, is the news story is the hit and run. The backing incident isn't newsworthy and assuming she was at fault, no one would have ever heard of this because no one cares. Minor accidents happen everyday. When the jerk HIT her and left the scene it became a story. She is the victim because his act was intentional.

YoMamma

Did I see a school board member in those photos?

Tsu Dho Nimh

I believe you did. I recognized her and her child.

yea right

wife of some bigwig out collecting votes..haha..lol

So, she is still going to be ticketed though, right? She did back into a car and cause an accident, right? Please, Sandusky Register ,keep us updated. I'm curious to what her citation will be.

YouMustBeJoking..... don't assume since she was backing out that she was at fault for the original accident. Did the other driver have his lights on, so he could see other vehicle/other vehicles could see him?? wait until all the facts come out before assuming you know what happened, unless you were a witness

YoMamma

That fat man in the silver car is waiting for his BAC to drop before he turns himself in.

Tsu Dho Nimh

No doubt.

YouMustBeJoking

juggaloben, yes I was there. I don't know any of the people involved, however, from what I seen she SHOULD be ticketed. The other car had its lights on and was not speeding.

juggaloben

I was more than half sarcastic when i said unless you were a witness, but I see the irony... with what you witnessed I am sure that she probably will be cited once a full investigation is done. At least that is what the official word will probably be at first.

Tsu Dho Nimh

Why do some of you care if she is ticketed? An idiot hits her and leaves the scene. Am I the only one who wants this man to be found?

juggaloben

I totally agree with you. I do hope they find this person and get them off the streets as soon as possible.
