A Sandusky woman is facing hefty charges for allegedly threatening to assault a man if he didn’t fork over $20.

Prosecutors authorized charges of robbery and aggravated menacing for Rita Fleming, 58, of the 300 block of Huron Ave.

A 67-year-old man asked Fleming for a ride to a Cleveland Road gas station Wednesday and gave her $10 for the lift, according to a Sandusky police report. When the man got back into Fleming’s vehicle after stopping at the gas station, she told him she’d “found” his keys.

Fleming then allegedly demanded $20 as a “finder’s fee.”

When the man protested, Fleming told him she’d punch him in the face if he refused, the report said.

“He gave her the money out of fear of being punched,” the report said. “He said Rita was much larger than him and he was frail with numerous health issues.”

After she dropped the man off, Fleming allegedly called him to argue over the matter. She threatened to punch him in the face the next time she encountered him in public, and she said if he called police, someone else may find and assault him, the report said.

The man filed for a temporary protection order and prosecutors authorized Fleming’s charges. Police tried to locate Fleming at home but her door went unanswered.

Robbery and aggravated menacing, not the first time her dance card has been punched (pun intended) for that.

"Hey, I found your keys that I stole. 20 bucks or a punch in the face? You decide!" Rita is Rita. You are still okay with me!
