After months on the run, a man allegedly involved in a Christmas-night shooting turned himself over to Sandusky police this week.

Bernard Hall, 22, of the 1500 block of McKinley St., is in Erie County jail on charges of attempted murder, complicity to attempted murder, complicity to commit felonious assault and two counts of child endangering.

Sandusky police had information that Hall was hiding out in Chicago in the weeks since the shooting, and they had enlisted the help of U.S. Marshals to find him, Sandusky police Detective Dana Newell said.

The search was for naught — Hall turned himself in at the Sandusky police station at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The shooting happened at about 11 p.m. on Christmas night near Ashburn and Dixon drives.

Officers learned there had been a disagreement between Hall and the mother of his children, with Hall indicating he’d return to start trouble, according to a police report. He returned a short while later, accompanied by two sisters and Sedric Cook, 28, of the 1400 block of Wayne St.

Cook allegedly grabbed a gun out of his vehicle and fired numerous rounds at a friend of the woman, the report said. The target fled, with Cook allegedly continuing to spray bullets in his direction. One stray bullet pierced the home of a Dixon Drive family, the report said.

Cook and Hall both fled the scene, but Cook turned himself in at the Erie County jail the following day, police said.

Hall was charged with complicity to commit attempted murder and child endangering the night of the shooting. An Erie County grand jury later indicted him on charges of attempted murder and complicity to commit felonious assault.
