The aunt said she’d returned the washer and dryer to Rent-a-Center, but that claim didn’t add up because the woman had already paid for them in full.

A woman reported her washer and dryer stolen over the weekend.

The Sandusky woman had left the machines in her aunt’s shed on East Park Street in September because she didn’t have a hookup in her apartment. But when she returned to retrieve the appliances, she found the shed lock cut and the items missing.

The aunt said she’d returned the washer and dryer to Renta-Center, but that claim didn’t add up because the woman had already paid for them in full.

Another relative later told the woman her aunt had sold the machines off.

Officers were unable to contact the aunt.
