Thomas Berkey, 19, 400 block Northwest St., Bellevue, was charged with criminal mischief, marijuana possession and drug paraphernalia.

A 16-year-old boy, 3600 block Matthes Ave., was charged with criminal mischief and obstruction.

A woman saw the pair enter a PT Cruiser on West Adams Street, then watched as they tried to enter a second vehicle on Fulton Street Saturday at about 10:30 p.m.

They only abandoned the second car when its alarm began to sound, she told police. When an officer arrived, the woman pointed out the teens, but the boy took off running, according to a Sandusky police report.

The out-of-breath boy was located a short distance away and taken to the Erie County Detention Home.

Berkey meanwhile, was found to be carrying a glass pipe with marijuana residue. He was released after officers charged him, the report said.
