The service is available now at indieflix.com.

If you don’t have a Sandusky Library account for the service yet, go torbdigital.com/sanduskyoh/

Library users who don’t already have a Zinio account, which offers digital versions of popular magazines, will need to take a few minutes to set up an account.

Once the user sets it up, Indieflix can stream movies to any device with a browser or to a Roku or Xbox. Using a laptop and a browser, users also can stream movies to a TV using Google Chromecast.

The offerings are dominated by shorts but also include many full-length features. The emphasis is on independent movies and foreign films, but the site also offers other fare, including old TV shows and classic movies.

Julie Brooks, director of Sandusky Library, said Indieflix fills in weak spots in the library’s collections.

“I was very excited to know that it had foreign films, which we don’t have,” she said. “This allows us to offer that to people”

Indieflix launched a few weeks ago for patrons of Port Clinton’s library.

With the launch of Indieflix, the library now offers several different ways for library patrons to connect to online content at home: Overdrive (ebooks and audiobooks), Freegal (three MP3 songs a week patrons can download and keep), Zinio (digital versions of magazines) and the CLEVNET table and smartphone app, which makes it easy for patrons to find library materials.

Sam Chada, Sandusky Library’s communications and technology director, said the library plans to launch Hoopla Digital within a few weeks. Hoopla streams movies, TV shows and music and generally offers more mainstream offerings that Indieflix.

In addition, the library will soon allow patrons to check out Roku devices and take them home.

SR please fix the bad link in the second paragraph. It seems it should read "go to rbdigital.com/sanduskyoh/" but due to an apparent typo omitting a space, the link erroneously points to http://torbdigital.com/sanduskyoh/

http://rbdigital.com/sanduskyoh/ seems to work fine.
