Sandusky Schools is gearing up for its second annual “Night at the Races,” one of its largest athletic fundraisers of the year.

The event’s success this past year has established it as an annual fundraiser, district athletic director Shawn Coakley said.

The Saturday celebration is already sold out, with more than 300 people expected to attend at Caesar’s Crystal Palace on Cleveland Road.

“We had a great time last year, and we’re absolutely going to continue doing it each year now,” Coakley said. “It was really a cross-section of multiple generations of Blue Streaks, with alumni from the ’50s through the ’90s involved”

Tickets cost $20 and include dinner, snacks, beer and other beverages, as well as a night of fun with a slew of Sandusky High School alumni. Individuals can bet on video horse races, with winners receiving cash prizes and trophies.

Money collected from the event benefits the Sandusky Blue Streak Athletic Boosters, to fund uniform and equipment purchases, summer camps, yearly student athlete scholarships and more.
