Fight stems from Rieger building

Two men involved with the reconstruction of the Rieger building duked it out Thursday afternoon after a work dispute.

Neither man was arrested, police said, because one wanted to discuss the issue with his boss before pursuing charges.

Around 2:30 p.m., the building’s project superintendent went to the Sandusky police station to report the roofing contractor assaulting him, according to a police report.

When the superintendent told the contractor to move his truck, the contractor refused and began arguing. The superintendent then told him he was “off the job”

The contractor tried to enter the building, then went at the superintendent. The contractor struck the superintendent a few times before throwing him to the ground, the report said.

The contractor later said the superintendent threw the first punch.
