A Port Clinton woman was arrested Wednesday for failing to keep track of her toddler.

Christy Hayes, 26, of the 400 block of W. Third St., was charged with child endangering after officers found her 3-year-old on her home's front porch, Port Clinton police said.

Police went inside the home, where they found Hayes sleeping in bed. She didn't respond to police at first, even with officers 2 feet from her, but eventually she said she'd been drinking earlier in the day, according to police. She then submitted to a test that revealed her blood-alcohol level was 0.109 percent, the report said.

She was taken to the Ottawa County jail.

What`s the big deal, she wasn`t smoking crack or something! What`s wrong with this country, where a mother can`t have a couple morning cocktails.

I'd bet she'd had more than a couple morning cocktails if she was so passed out she didn't wake up to cops in her house or knocking at the door. I know you're being sarcastic but obviously if you have a small child you have to be aware of what's going on all the time. Dreadful things happen in a second.
