When you were in school, which teacher do you think would’ve been most likely to fail his or her own class?

If you answered “gym teacher,” you agree with a majority of Americans.

And if you’re local teacher Kaitlin Griffing, you could’ve won a pretty hefty chunk of change on the fairly new game show “Let’sAsk America”

The show featured Griffing, a long-term Perkins Schools substitute teacher, as a contestant on its “Teachers Special” episode this past week.

On “Let’s Ask America,” four contestants use Skype video chatting to participate from home. They answer three rounds of surveystyle questions and win money if they choose the same answer as most Americans.

“Sometimes it’s more difficult than you’d think,” Griffing said. “You might have a good reasoning for something, but that doesn’t matter if it’s not how the rest of America is thinking”

The individual with the most cash — on this episode, Griffing — goes on to wager their dollars in a bonus round.

Although she didn’t answer “gym teacher,” Griffing still walked away the winner of a more-thanmodest prize: $5,200, to be exact.

“I’ve seen too many people make it to the final round, wager it all and walk away with nothing,” she said. “I only wagered $500. I decided to play it safe”

Griffing and her husband plan to use the prize money to take a Caribbean cruise with her family, who celebrated her winnings with a watch party the night the episode aired.

She’s been a big fan of “Let’s Ask America” since its debut in 2012, and signed up to be a contestant shortly after. Her request went unreturned until November 2013, when she received a call and taped the episode.

Griffing lives in Perkins Township and plans to return to a full-time job as a Meadowlawn Intermediate School science teacher this year, she said.

In Sandusky, “Let’s Ask America” airs weekdays at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.
