Strong Schools ...

This levy is not about the buildings. It is about providing a great education for our students and providing them with multiple opportunities. Specials and gifted teachers are already cut and our students will have to pay $730 per sport. We need to step up as a community and support our students so we can remain a school district that offers many different opportunities.

Your first sentence is totally and factually a lie. It's wrong. It's false. It's a lie.

This levy is only about buildings. TELL GUNNER TO MOVE OPERATING FUNDS BACK TO OPERATIONS and special/gifted teachers won't need to be cut and there won't be $730 fees for athletics.

Perkins Schools has the money. Gunner and Board are just keeping it to build a new building as soon as they can pass a levy.

What do you not understand about this? THIS IS A BUILDING LEVY, NOT AN OPERATIONAL LEVY.

Strong Schools ...

Our district has a lot of amazing parents that support the schools. They should not have to look anywhere else because our schools provide amazing opportunities. I believe in our parents, students, and teachers! Our school district is running out of financial support due to the state and federal cuts. We need to help support our students and vote for this levy!

Vote4Perkins

I agree "Strong Schools!" All of the opportunities are right in front of us. Voters just have to be educated and make the right decision based on the facts.

VOTENO

Now the voters are uneducated! LOL! Gunners minions are out in force tonight!

Vote4Perkins

Did you go to the board meeting? The facts were laid out. Don't vote emotionally, vote rationally.

Perkins12345

At least Gunner's minions have their facts straight!!!!

Perkins2060

This is comical. It's going to fail. Again and again. No chance at all on passing no matter how hard you try. Keep it up though. It's quite comical.

Stand your ground Perkins Township. We cave now and we will take it up the WAZOO. Perkins BOE - we renewed one levy. The answer is NO!! I can't afford to pay anymore per month! You should have NEVER moved those operating funds! Why did you build that new stadium? Why are you still wanting to build a new school?? I am a Perkins parent, I feel bad for the teachers and kids, but I am trying to be fiscally responsible, pay bills, and try to save whatever I can, all while they were laying new turf, drawing up blue-prints, and still trying to take more of my hard-earned paycheck! This is nuts! Didn't we vote already?????

Perkins12345

If you support our teachers and most importantly our students, then vote YES. Those students are losing great programs and will eventually be getting an average education. If this levy passes, then students will again be given the opportunity to get the great education that Perkins is known to provide!!! And yes you did vote already. The more times this levy goes down the greater the millage. It is financially smarter to pass it sooner than later. Check you facts and history. See Margaretta, Huron and Edison.

44870 South

Oh Please..."Save the Students"...from what?? They aren't in a burning building! This is the most TEACHABLE moment we can offer our kids - to be fiscally responsible and not expect others to bail you out when you're not, to cast your vote and stand your ground based on PRINCIPLES, not waver in the shadow of empty threats! AND if those threats were to reign true, the you suck it up and pay the price for however long it takes! We need these people and their bulldozing out of our district! Take your district back PERKINS VOTERS! VOTE NO. VOTE GUNNER AND THE BOARD OUT! THAT'S HOW REAL CHANGE HAPPENS.

44870 South

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it already is AVERAGE. The district is rated EFFECTIVE. That's right in the middle. Be careful now...because I know you're gonna want to jump all over this comment, but if you do, then you might have to acknowledge in your reply to me that school report card ratings don't mean JACK! And if that is the case, then you also have to admit that you can get just as good an education across the street or anywhere else for that matter...

BetterTomorrow

NO NEW SCHOOL TAXES IN 13 YEARS! Even with the passing of the levy Perkins residents will still pay the lowest school taxes in the county-- Must have a very small WAZOO.

44870 South

That's exactly right...I do. And the BOE needs to learn to manage their finite "WAZOO", just like the rest of us.

Vote4Perkins

How do you expect the 16 teachers that were riffed to pay their bills without a job?

VOTENO

LOL at these comments from the yes voters! Good luck, you're going to need it! LOL!

Strong Schools ...

Vote No...I am really sad by your comments. I feel I live in a district that provides a high quality education. It will be cheaper to pass this levy than to pay for extracurriculars. Also, the millage will only go up with time so it would be smarter to pass it now. Vote No, do you live in our district?

VOTENO

Don't worry about me. I'm voting NO in August as are the majority of voters. Sending my kids out of the district along with the state funds. GO POLAR BEARS!

Vote4Perkins

Well, be prepared to budget money for transportation to the neighboring district. It will cost more in gas money than to pass the levy.

Señor Clown

You are aware that the cost of transportation over a few years is insignificant when compared to the cost of paying an additional several hundred dollars a year in property taxes over the duration of time you live in Perkins township, correct?

Vote4Perkins

Well, be prepared to budget money for transportation to the neighboring district. It will cost more in gas money than to pass the levy.

Strong Schools ...

Why aren't you proud of Perkins?

I'm Done

Gunner has stated that to run a new building will cost more. It was stated in a board meeting. Once the new building is built, another operating level will have to be placed on the ballot.

Strong Schools ...

I do feel the board and Gunner have been very creative to keep us financially safe for the past five years. There is only so much you can do before the well runs completely dry. The state and federal government have cut funding from our schools. As a community we need to step up and support our students. It has been 13 years since we have passed a levy. Our students are totally worth it!

44870 South

@Vote4Perkins - you said " Vote out the board members if you don't agree with their actions.".....Why would I vote for something I am totally against (the actions), and then vote them out in November? NO...I will vote "No" AND vote them OUT in November.

Strong Schools ...

I agree with Vote4Perkins. Keep the politics out of it and stay focused on the students. We have to think long term and stop living in the moment. The center of our community are the schools. We don't have a YMCA, VFW, etc. We need to support what we have and keep our Perkins Pride!

Perkins2060

We don't have a VFW? You must not live in Perkins. Is that you Gunner?

Señor Clown

You and I would both agree, the 'do it for the students' line is getting old. We both know the best and brightest all leave for college and never come back to the township to contribute anything to the property tax base. Meanwhile, everyone else gets taxed to death to keep the parents from having to pay extra for their special children to be in band or sports.

Honestly, let's come to terms with some simple facts. The future of the township is not very promising. The factory jobs are all gone or soon to be, the businesses that aren't service industries or depending on Cedar Point tourists aren't likely going to be expanding their labor forces by any significant amount, and the only strong bet for a good steady paycheck is going to be in government jobs like the teacher's union.

The township is transitioning from a bedroom community where UAW workers could get away from Sandusky to a retirement community. Many people can't afford any more taxes. If you're that concerned about your child's education, you would be sending them to a private school. This is NOTHING MORE than an effective way to get parents motivated to go out and vote for the levy by threatening them with fees for band and sports participation, and it's an effective tactic that plays on their emotions and their pocketbooks.

VOTE NO

Vote4Perkins

Why vote yes? There are 2,400 reasons to vote yes! Those children have no say in what is happening, yet they are continuously being punished.

Why are you proud to have the worst facilities in the area?

Why are you proud to not support the schools in over 13 years?

How do you expect to operate on the same budget as 13 years ago?

Why don't you care about your property values?

Why don't you appreciate the superintendent who has generated over 2million dollars worth of grants and has tried his best with what he has.

IN LIGHT OF THIS COMMENT...

PARENTS TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOUR CHILDREN TONIGHT. THEY WILL LOOK SPECTACULAR IN "BLUE AND WHITE" or "ORANGE AND BLUE", even "GREEN AND WHITE", if that is what appeals to you...What's the first thing we teach our kids about bullies?? Walk away...
