Edwin Ison

How much are the proposed sports fees?

Alissa Widman Neese's picture
Alissa Widman Neese

The fee amounts currently aren't listed on the meeting agenda.

Edwin Ison

Thanks, the numbers are there now. $730 for a sport? Seems criminal. I have many friends with children at Perkins.
Better open enroll your kids at Edison quickly, not sure how many spots are available.

Vote4Perkins

Or...you could pay on average $25 a month for the levy and support the students

VOTENO

Nah, I will send my kids to Margaretta and keep my "$25" per month.

VOTENO

And send all that open enrollment cash to Margaretta! Go Polar Bears!

margaritaville88

Heck ya!! Our boy is in football practice currently..GO BEARS !!!

yesshedid

you will spend more than "25" a month on gas alone!

Perkins12345

If the levy passes, the fees will return to what they were in the past. Twenty five dollars a month for the levy is a better deal than what it would cost for the pay to participate fee. LETS PASS THIS LEVY!!!!!

BetterTomorrow

Run and hide. . . Step up and support our own. If our community supported our schools we wouldn't be where we are

fifteenthgreen

No free computers. Will save $1,185,745! Might be an option to save jobs!

fifteenthgreen

Typical scare tactic.

WesTaylor

They simply do not have the $$$. You do the math. I wish it were a scare tactic. It will end up being much more than a scare if we can't come together for our future. I am voting yes, then getting some of the BOE outta here in November.

fifteenthgreen

Stay focused!

WesTaylor

Gee. I hope you are right. If not, then we are going to be one sad district!

fifteenthgreen

"It can be old but it doesn't have to be dirty!"

Perkins12345

The new building is now put on hold until the district is financially stable. You have it right. Lets now pass this levy so that we can not only support the teachers but what is most important.....THE STUDENTS!!!!!!

VOTENO

They don't need the money if they aren't building Gunners taj majal. Move the money back and problem solved. Move the money back for the kids amd vote no for our future.

BetterTomorrow

Voting no and for the kids is not the same

Common Sense

Please tell us all how many board meetings you have attended to become an infromed voter. How much of the literature sent out by the district have you reviewed? It is truly sad that you have nothing mmore to say and nothing to back your reasoning. Thank goodness, one of the "critical thinking skills" taught to the students at Perkins is how to weigh out the advantages and the disadvantages and make a responsible decision.

yesshedid

amen!

I'm Done

Were you at the meeting were the treasurer stated that with pay to play and the athletic boosters, the athletics is such as minute part of our budget that it isn't worth touching? So, how do we go from that to $730? I was at the meeting where Gunner stated that if the levies failed they would have to move the inside milage back. What happened to that? I'm so tired of it. Everyone keeps saying take the BOE out in November. What about Gunner? His contract expires Aug. How can you bring him back? If he receives another contract, I am voting NO and sending my student to another district.

Perkins12345

Clearly you have not attended any of the board meetings or reviewed any of the literature pertaining to moving the money back. When you know the facts maybe then you have the right to comment. Moving money back has nothing to do with the cuts being made at the state level. Why would you ever want to vote no for a childs future? Do you have children? If so, I feel bad for them!!!

I'm Done

I have been to many of the meeting. Apparently you haven't been to the ones that only would draw 10 people. Must be a new attandie. My whole point is the way the BOE can change what they say and then deny it. Calm down. You shouldn't feel bad for my children. They are doing excellent in life due to parenting not the school.

I'm Done

Actually, it is the attacks against those that are against the BOE that is the problem. How do you expect to persuade a no voter to change their minds when you start personally attacking people?

citizen

Where are you getting your information?

This levy IS TO BUILD A NEW BUILDING.

Gunner moved the operating funds out of operations and into permanent improvement fund after a levy for a new building failed TWICE.

Gunner has now essentially bankrupted the school district so they are classifying this levy as operating and threatening all of these cuts!

All Gunner needs to do is move the operating funds back where they rightfully belong... to operations to educate the district's students!

Perkins12345, the new building is not put on hold. It is full steam ahead as soon as they pass a building (disguised as operating) levy.

Perkins12345

Right now the issue is not the building. Right now the issue is passing the levy so that students get the best education possible. We do NOT want the students to feel the hurt of the reduction of programs. Once the levy passes and the district becomes financially stable they will pursue the building. The building being on hold was announced tonight at the board meeting. If you want to hear it for yourself, they have the live video posted. WATCH IT FOR YOURSELF!!!

fifteenthgreen

Stay the course!

citizen

What exactly do you mean by "financially stable?" I will tell you what it means.... once this building levy passes, they will build the new high school!

Again, I cannot make it any simpler.

Gunner and Board recently took out a $3 million loan from Citizens Bank to plan and design the new school. Why on earth would they do this if they were "putting the new building on hold." If that is the case, they are worse leaders than any of us imagined. WAKE UP.

Perkins12345

VOTE YES!!! SAVE OUR STUDENTS!!!!!

VOTENO

Go back to your pep rally.

Perkins12345

At least someone is informed. I attended the meeting tonight and it is clear that there are some people out there with Perkins Pride!!! It is sad you are not one of them.

senioritis

I think I do remember that...but this isn't Sherri. What if the board actually goes through with these cuts? What then? Will people just sit and complain like now? Everyone can say, "Oh, they won't do it." But all it takes is one cut, and those saying no cuts are possible will be the first to complain.

Vote4Perkins

Scare tactic... Can you operate on the same budget from 13 years ago? Vote out the board members if you don't agree with their actions. Don't punish the students and teachers.

citizen

MOVE THE OPERATING MONEY BACK INTO OPERATIONS. NO STUDENTS OR TEACHERS WILL BE PUNISHED.

This is a scare tactic.... Pass this building levy or everything will be cut!

My question is, if this levy does not pass.... does Gunner plan to go through with this cuts AND still build a brand new high school with the money he unethically removed from operations and into buildings funds after voters twice told him NO to a new building? Perkins and Gunner will have a brand new building... but no students!

Perkins has enough money to educate their students, pay faculty, purchase textbooks, technology, art/athletics etc. Gunner and Board have chosen to use this money instead to build a new high school. It really is quite that simple.

Common Sense

Did you attend the board meeting? Why do you think that this is a scare tactic when you don't know what is at stake??? Please, get yourself to a board meeting. Give up all the excuses and make this a priority as this is your community. As the schools go, so does your community!

citizen

What is at stake?

AGAIN, ALL GUNNER AND BOARD HAVE TO DO IS MOVE THE MONEY THEY UNETHICALLY TOOK OUT OF OPERATIONS BACK TO OPERATIONS.

Is it that difficult to understand?

Gunner and Board are the ones who put the students in jeopardy. They moved money that was designated to educate the students, pay teachers, provided technology/textbooks, arts/athletics and music.... and decided A BUILDING WAS MORE IMPORTANT. Gunner and Board decided that. All they need to do is move it back.

Vote4Perkins

If they move the money back, they are still going to have to ask for a levy. And if they did move it back, it would not be available for the next school year. Go to the board meetings, they answered this question. In fact, ask them yourself...

http://www.perkins.k12.oh.us/Lev...

senioritis

citizen, Clearly, you did NOT go to any meetings.

Vote4Perkins

The teachers have already received their pink slips...this is not a scare tactic. Theses are real people with real lives.

Lil DAB

Perkins12345

Band, athletics, and teaching positions. Sadly, what is suffering are the STUDENTS!!! Lets pass this levy so that they will again be given the opportunity to get the best education around which has been the tradition of Perkins for years. Programs can not continue without money.

fifteenthgreen

Work together!

Vote4Perkins

To pay for the supplementals and bussing fees.

fifteenthgreen

Thank you for the answer!

Perkins12345

This was answered at the board meeting. The fees are for transportation and the cost of an advisor, insurance, fuel, and coaches.

fifteenthgreen

I plan on attending for my children's future! What a mess.

fifteenthgreen

Thank you!

Vote4Perkins

Go to the board meetings...they answered that question!

AllTheAnswers

I cast my NO CONFIDENCE vote for BOE and Super. This once proud system is an embarrassment in education. Gunner needs to RESIGN immediately and BOE needs to step aside. The State can temporarily take over for that matter. Guess you will build a school at the cost of a community. What a scam and a shame. RIP Perkins.

Vote4Perkins

Ok...so vote them out in November! Don't punish the students and teachers. We all need to come together as a community to show our school pride.

Perkins12345

Perkins Pride all the way!!!! Support our students!!!

citizen

Again, MOVE THE OPERATING FUNDS BACK TO OPERATIONS. Gunner and Board unethically moved funds from operations to building a brand new building.

Perkins has enough money to educate students, pay teachers, provide technology and textbooks, arts/athletics..... but Gunner decided a new building was more important (AFTER VOTERS TOLD HIM TWICE NO REGARDING A NEW BUILDING).

smarter citizen

MOVING THE OPERATING FUNDS BACK TO OPERATIONS WOULD KEEP US GOING FOR ONE YEAR. IT WAS $1.7 MILLION AND THE LEVY IS FOR 5. IF YOU WERE AT THE BOARD MEETING YOU'D KNOW THAT. We would just need a new levy next year for probably even more. Your facts are very off and you should just stop commenting and giving other false information because of your ignorance.

Strong Schools ...

We need to stay positive for the students. Do not vote for the board members if you do not like their decisions. Please vote for the students!

Perkins12345

Gunner and the BOE have always keep the best interest of the students in mind. As a mother isn't this the reason for schools??? Without students what is the purpose of schools? If the state steps in the millage will at least double just like it did in Huron. Lets get those informed voters out there to pass this levy!!!

VOTENO

Lets get those informed voters out there to defeat this levy.

BetterTomorrow

Perkins is the best school district around and our community is paying the lowest taxes. Our taxpayers have not paid new school taxes in 13 years. No other district can say that. I would challenge any other BOE or Super to do that.

fifteenthgreen

We just passed one!

RMyer

Our district has been recognized (on the state and national level) for educational achievements related to the STEM initiative, the technology initiative; we have pursued collaborative/grant partnerships with universities. Educators from other districts have visited to learn about our technology program. We have offered opportunities such as the Chinese visiting teacher program at Meadowlawn, Briar and the high school. There are more examples if you would wish to have them. Our extra-curricular programs (band, athletics, etc.) have been recognized as some of the best in the area. These are not "embarrassments". These are programs that students would not have had the opportunity to be involved with otherwise.

A state takeover will cost more in the short term and long term. The district will need to borrow money from the state which will need to be repaid. The cuts will be deeper and continue until a much higher millage amount is passed (research Huron, Lorain, Vermilion, or any other district that ended up in fiscal emergency).

The board and superintendent have kept the district afloat through open enrollment and cuts for the past five years. This financial issue was exasperated by the state trimming about $2,000,000 from the district (and more reductions are no doubt on the way; there will be no help from the state-we are a "property rich" district and as such are expected to take care of our own.)

We have the lowest school tax millage in the area (14 mills under the state average, 7 mills under the next lowest district in the area). Since 1995 (18 years ago), we have passed an additional 2.9 mills. As a contrast, during that same 18 year period another district in our area has passed 26 additional mills to support its students and educational program.

fifteenthgreen

We just passed a renewal levy. What are you trying to say?

devilsadvocate

Did they cut the new building yet?

Vote4Perkins

The new building is on hold until we are finically stable.

citizen

When you say "financially stable" you must mean pass this levy.

As soon as this levy passes, the new building is full-go.

Don't be silly.... this is a building levy, not an operations levy.

Perkins12345

If this is a building levy then why were 16 teaching positions as listed on the board minutes cut? Does cutting teachers have anything to do with a building levy?

bobshumway92

Gunner and the Board all need to resign.

asecretlife

Vote them out. It's up to you. Pass the levy and vote out the board. Simple

VOTENO

Vote NO AND vote them OUT!

Vote4Perkins

There are 2,400 plus reasons to vote yes in August. Vote the Board out in November. Don't vote emotionally, vote rationally.

VOTENO

Don't tell us we're emotional. We are fiscally responsible. VOTE NO! MOVE THE MONEY BACK!

Vote4Perkins

The Board is fiscally responsible! They are cutting because they can't run in the red. Moving the millage back won't help...you would still need to pass a levy. Go the the meetings and be informed...

fifteenthgreen

When is the next meeting?

citizen

The board is fiscally responsible? HA

This is a building levy. NO TO A BUILDING LEVY.

I would somewhat consider an operations levy, although the district still operates fiscally irresponsbile? A communications director? REALLY? Cut ole' Gasiterer and save $100,000 per year! (And I don't mean cut him in 2 years, CUT THE POSITION NOW!... If it's not needed in 2 years, why on earth is it needed today?!)

Perkins12345

This is irrelevant....if you knew what the board minutes said (VII H.) you would hopefully be able to read the names listed under the positions eliminated.

eriemom

Sadly, Mr. Gastier has been RIFed.

fifteenthgreen

Times have sadly changed.

Perkins12345

As a voter you have the power to vote them out in November. At this point it is imperative to do what is best for out students. If that levy does not pass then students WILLL be effected. They will lose art, music, gym, computer and other extracurricular activities. If this levy passes they will get all of this back and again get the great education that Perkins provides. VOTE YES!!!

Perkins2060

I will be voting no as will all my neighbors and everyone I talk to.

Perkins12345

That saddens me because I thought it was an adults responsibility to look out for the best interest of children. This levy is about giving students the education that they deserve. It is sad to know that adults voting no don't really care about these students and the educational programs that they receive.

Vote4Perkins

You are more than welcome to vote in November for new board members...just sayin'

VOTENO

I advise any parents thinking about open enrolling their children in Perkins to think twice. Can you afford all the fees? Is Perkins really better than your district? I hear a lot of Perkins parents are looking at Margaretta, Huron, Sandusky, and Edison. Gunnner and his board's plan has backfired. They now will lose a ton of dollars when Perkins parents pull their kids from Perkins and open enrollment kids from other districts pull their kids from Perkins. Perkins is a joke thanks to Gunner and this board. All the other districts are laughing all the way to the bank.

Vote4Perkins

If parents move their children to other districts, they will pay way more in taxes than they ever imagined. This "plan" has not backfired...if you attended the Board Meeting tonight you would have heard we have a wait list on Open Enrollment.

If you don't like the decisions the board and superintendent have made then vote them out in November. Don't punish the students and teachers.

VOTENO

GO POLAR BEARS!

WesTaylor

By your name, we all understand your stance. I have to tell you, my 2 nieces from a school to the west of us are open enrolling, and 4 of my good friends from north of us are as well. They understand that the pros outweigh the cons. I just wish that the people in our own district could see from the outside. WE HAVE A GREAT DISTRICT! Vote yes!

Perkins12345

It is sad that people outside of our district can see how good of a district we are and what a great education we provide but some people in our district can't. Please attend a board meeting or any Perkins event to see what pride an informed voter gains when they know they did the best for the students by voting yes!!!

BetterTomorrow

I wonder what district VOTENO lives in. It just seems that he/she is determined to see Perkins fail. Even with all of these finical issues there are over 500 Open Enrollment students attending Perkins. It must not be that bad of a school district.

Perkins2060

They won't be any longer. I'm loving these pay to play fees! Kids will be flocking to other districts!

Perkins12345

The taxes in other districts are much higher than the taxes in Perkins even after this levy passes. If people move out of the district for higher taxes and average schools then that is their choice. I would rather pay a little more and have my child get an outstanding education that will get them into a good college which will eventually lead to a successful career.

Señor Clown

This is not true, and any amount of time spent comparing homes of similar estimated market value and tax assessment and you will see that they pay nearly the same amount in property taxes. If anything Perkins Township is already HIGHER than many districts in the area for a home of equivalent market estimate and tax assessment. Please stop either deliberately lying to people, or spreading misinformation you heard at the board meeting, as it's apparent you haven't done any research at the area's auditors offices to realize the truth.

I'm Done

Not moving, open-enrolling

Strong Schools ...

This levy is not about the buildings. It is about providing a great education for our students and providing them with multiple opportunities. Specials and gifted teachers are already cut and our students will have to pay $730 per sport. We need to step up as a community and support our students so we can remain a school district that offers many different opportunities.

citizen

Your first sentence is totally and factually a lie. It's wrong. It's false. It's a lie.

This levy is only about buildings. TELL GUNNER TO MOVE OPERATING FUNDS BACK TO OPERATIONS and special/gifted teachers won't need to be cut and there won't be $730 fees for athletics.

Perkins Schools has the money. Gunner and Board are just keeping it to build a new building as soon as they can pass a levy.

What do you not understand about this? THIS IS A BUILDING LEVY, NOT AN OPERATIONAL LEVY.

Strong Schools ...

Our district has a lot of amazing parents that support the schools. They should not have to look anywhere else because our schools provide amazing opportunities. I believe in our parents, students, and teachers! Our school district is running out of financial support due to the state and federal cuts. We need to help support our students and vote for this levy!

Vote4Perkins

I agree "Strong Schools!" All of the opportunities are right in front of us. Voters just have to be educated and make the right decision based on the facts.

VOTENO

Now the voters are uneducated! LOL! Gunners minions are out in force tonight!

Vote4Perkins

Did you go to the board meeting? The facts were laid out. Don't vote emotionally, vote rationally.

Perkins12345

At least Gunner's minions have their facts straight!!!!

Perkins2060

This is comical. It's going to fail. Again and again. No chance at all on passing no matter how hard you try. Keep it up though. It's quite comical.

44870 South

Stand your ground Perkins Township. We cave now and we will take it up the WAZOO. Perkins BOE - we renewed one levy. The answer is NO!! I can't afford to pay anymore per month! You should have NEVER moved those operating funds! Why did you build that new stadium? Why are you still wanting to build a new school?? I am a Perkins parent, I feel bad for the teachers and kids, but I am trying to be fiscally responsible, pay bills, and try to save whatever I can, all while they were laying new turf, drawing up blue-prints, and still trying to take more of my hard-earned paycheck! This is nuts! Didn't we vote already?????

Perkins12345

If you support our teachers and most importantly our students, then vote YES. Those students are losing great programs and will eventually be getting an average education. If this levy passes, then students will again be given the opportunity to get the great education that Perkins is known to provide!!! And yes you did vote already. The more times this levy goes down the greater the millage. It is financially smarter to pass it sooner than later. Check you facts and history. See Margaretta, Huron and Edison.

44870 South

Oh Please..."Save the Students"...from what?? They aren't in a burning building! This is the most TEACHABLE moment we can offer our kids - to be fiscally responsible and not expect others to bail you out when you're not, to cast your vote and stand your ground based on PRINCIPLES, not waver in the shadow of empty threats! AND if those threats were to reign true, the you suck it up and pay the price for however long it takes! We need these people and their bulldozing out of our district! Take your district back PERKINS VOTERS! VOTE NO. VOTE GUNNER AND THE BOARD OUT! THAT'S HOW REAL CHANGE HAPPENS.

44870 South

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it already is AVERAGE. The district is rated EFFECTIVE. That's right in the middle. Be careful now...because I know you're gonna want to jump all over this comment, but if you do, then you might have to acknowledge in your reply to me that school report card ratings don't mean JACK! And if that is the case, then you also have to admit that you can get just as good an education across the street or anywhere else for that matter...

BetterTomorrow

NO NEW SCHOOL TAXES IN 13 YEARS! Even with the passing of the levy Perkins residents will still pay the lowest school taxes in the county-- Must have a very small WAZOO.

44870 South

That's exactly right...I do. And the BOE needs to learn to manage their finite "WAZOO", just like the rest of us.

Vote4Perkins

How do you expect the 16 teachers that were riffed to pay their bills without a job?

VOTENO

LOL at these comments from the yes voters! Good luck, you're going to need it! LOL!

Strong Schools ...

Vote No...I am really sad by your comments. I feel I live in a district that provides a high quality education. It will be cheaper to pass this levy than to pay for extracurriculars. Also, the millage will only go up with time so it would be smarter to pass it now. Vote No, do you live in our district?

VOTENO

Don't worry about me. I'm voting NO in August as are the majority of voters. Sending my kids out of the district along with the state funds. GO POLAR BEARS!

Vote4Perkins

Well, be prepared to budget money for transportation to the neighboring district. It will cost more in gas money than to pass the levy.

Señor Clown

You are aware that the cost of transportation over a few years is insignificant when compared to the cost of paying an additional several hundred dollars a year in property taxes over the duration of time you live in Perkins township, correct?

Vote4Perkins

Well, be prepared to budget money for transportation to the neighboring district. It will cost more in gas money than to pass the levy.

Strong Schools ...

Why aren't you proud of Perkins?

I'm Done

Gunner has stated that to run a new building will cost more. It was stated in a board meeting. Once the new building is built, another operating level will have to be placed on the ballot.

Strong Schools ...

I do feel the board and Gunner have been very creative to keep us financially safe for the past five years. There is only so much you can do before the well runs completely dry. The state and federal government have cut funding from our schools. As a community we need to step up and support our students. It has been 13 years since we have passed a levy. Our students are totally worth it!

44870 South

@Vote4Perkins - you said " Vote out the board members if you don't agree with their actions.".....Why would I vote for something I am totally against (the actions), and then vote them out in November? NO...I will vote "No" AND vote them OUT in November.

Strong Schools ...

I agree with Vote4Perkins. Keep the politics out of it and stay focused on the students. We have to think long term and stop living in the moment. The center of our community are the schools. We don't have a YMCA, VFW, etc. We need to support what we have and keep our Perkins Pride!

Perkins2060

We don't have a VFW? You must not live in Perkins. Is that you Gunner?

Señor Clown

You and I would both agree, the 'do it for the students' line is getting old. We both know the best and brightest all leave for college and never come back to the township to contribute anything to the property tax base. Meanwhile, everyone else gets taxed to death to keep the parents from having to pay extra for their special children to be in band or sports.

Honestly, let's come to terms with some simple facts. The future of the township is not very promising. The factory jobs are all gone or soon to be, the businesses that aren't service industries or depending on Cedar Point tourists aren't likely going to be expanding their labor forces by any significant amount, and the only strong bet for a good steady paycheck is going to be in government jobs like the teacher's union.

The township is transitioning from a bedroom community where UAW workers could get away from Sandusky to a retirement community. Many people can't afford any more taxes. If you're that concerned about your child's education, you would be sending them to a private school. This is NOTHING MORE than an effective way to get parents motivated to go out and vote for the levy by threatening them with fees for band and sports participation, and it's an effective tactic that plays on their emotions and their pocketbooks.

VOTE NO

Vote4Perkins

Why vote yes? There are 2,400 reasons to vote yes! Those children have no say in what is happening, yet they are continuously being punished.

Why are you proud to have the worst facilities in the area?

Why are you proud to not support the schools in over 13 years?

How do you expect to operate on the same budget as 13 years ago?

Why don't you care about your property values?

Why don't you appreciate the superintendent who has generated over 2million dollars worth of grants and has tried his best with what he has.

44870 South

IN LIGHT OF THIS COMMENT...

PARENTS TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOUR CHILDREN TONIGHT. THEY WILL LOOK SPECTACULAR IN "BLUE AND WHITE" or "ORANGE AND BLUE", even "GREEN AND WHITE", if that is what appeals to you...What's the first thing we teach our kids about bullies?? Walk away...

44870 South

13 years?????? You passed one a month ago! You just aren't satisfied with the one that was passed!

Vote4Perkins

It was a renewal!

fifteenthgreen

A renewal that barely passed. Need to generate more revenue.

Perkins2060

These yes people are the ones with houses they can't affors to live in, have all leased vehicles, huge credit card debt, etc. This is hilarious!

Strong Schools ...

Wow Perkins 2060! Now you are attacking us personally. Sounds like you are getting pretty mad. But my husband and I have very successful jobs and live in a beautiful home. But it is good to know you care about the financial situation of the "yes" voters! Stay focused on the schools. Let's keep our conversations based on what the blog is called "Perkins School Board Meeting". Please educate yourself, step away from your computer, and attend a board meeting.

Vote4Perkins

Really? The only debt I have is school loans...

44870 South

OH!! I'm sorry!!! Ladies and gentleman...it was ONLY a renewal that you graciously granted them! Silly taxpayers!!

"Mom and Dad, can I have 50 bucks"..."No...but here is $20. Go out and spend it responsibly"...(Child screaming, crying, and waling on ground)..."I am your child!! How dare you not give me what I want! Can't you add??? I want these cool NEW shoes, which I put in lay-away in YOUR name! Now I have to come up with the money to pay for them! YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT ME!!!"

People...this excerpt is the equivalent to what we are currently experiencing.

BetterTomorrow

Interesting comment on a month ago. Have you ever attended a board meeting? As a voter you don't know the difference between renewals and new millage. I hoped you read your voter card.. . It did say renewal. That is not new $$ so again Perkins has received no new school money in 13 years.

Perkins2060

Too bad the renewal passed. Morons.

senioritis

Excuse me? Where do you get off calling people names? And since when did Sandusky Register let 5-year olds on the comments to start name-calling?

I'm Done

I have been to lots of board meetings and stopped because it all came down to the BOE telling us we are wrong and we hired them to make the decisions and so forth. NOT ONCE did the board LISTEN and take into consideration what we are saying and asking. Do they know that residents have the final say?

Strong Schools ...

We passed a renewal. We have not passed any new money for thirteen years. We can't pay the bills now on what we made thirteen years ago. I know I couldn't!

44870 South

You haven't passed any NEW money for 13 years?? Interesting fact...So then why do you build a brand NEW football stadium??? Wouldn't it have been smart to get the NEW money before buying the NEW stuff?

Lil DAB

Amen

Perkins2060

Our schools have been run into the ground by this regime. I'm voting no in August and looking for another district to send my kids. Edison or Huron are my two choices. I will decide where next month. Bye bye Perkins. I hope the district I choose will spend those state funds wisely and not like Gunner and our school board has spent what they have.

Strong Schools ...

Let me know when you are moving. I have a few friends that want to move to the district because of our awesome teachers and students! We need to keep out Perkins Pride and stand up for our students.

Perkins2060

Who's moving? I'm open enrolling my kids out of this fiasco being orchestrated by Gunner and his board. I'm sending my kids and the state funds out of here and elsewhere. Vote no.

I'm Done

There are plenty of houses for sale that aren't selling.

BetterTomorrow

Yeah move to Huron. . . are you reading the papers. . .they are not far behind with the state cuts imposed upon them. When the state took over Huron years back the community had to pass almost 9 mills to save their schools. This is not just a Perkins issue. . . it is a state issue!

Perkins2060

No one is moving. Only thing moving is the state funds from Perkins to another district.

Señor Clown

Be interesting to see how things work out for Sandusky's new advanced placement school. Could be a good open enrollment option to private school some day?

eriemom

It may put stress on one of Perkin's programs.

BetterTomorrow

Vote Yes!!!

Edwin Ison

You all are being bullied.
Give in to a bully and guess what? You get bullied worse.
Gunner has bullied staff and now the voters... good luck if you cave in now.
Bullied for a new building that the public doesn't feel is needed or wanted.

This is too funny! Gunner and the board must have brought up the Register at their pep rally tonight. I love this!

You wouldn't know because you don't go to the board meetings...

People, please be informed and make your own decisions...don't listen to uninformed bloggers who just sit on their computers all day.

Strong Schools ...

Gunner has not bullied our community at all. If you attend the board meeting you will see he is very open and honest. I believe he has done a good job finding other funding. Our schools have been issued grants due to his efforts.

Yippidy-do-dah! So have a lot of other schools received grants! I think SCS and EHOVE get all kinds of grants! A few grants and you think this guy is doing a good job? That's what your using to measure his ability to lead??? Honestly???? You've got to be kidding. He has divided an entire community.

Gunnet is cutting your jobs. Tell him to move the money back to save your job!
