Best-selling novelist Thrity Umrigar will come to Lakeside this Friday.
She will discuss how she became a fiction writer, as well as the joys, challenges and perils of an author's life.
A book signing and reception at the Lakeside Women’s Club Green Gables (161 Walnut Ave.) will follow her program.
Umrigar came to the United States at age 21 to continue her education with a master’s degree at The Ohio State University.
She later earned her PhD in English from Kent State University and currently works as an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Case Western Reserve University.
Umrigar has authored six books and received numerous awards and recognition for her work. Her novels include The World We Found, The Weight Between Us and The Weight of Heaven.
This program is coordinated by the Lakeside Chautauqua Education Department, the Lakeside Women’s Club and The Fine Print bookstore.
It will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 11 in Lakeside Chautauqua’s Orchestra Hall.
She will also discuss her upcoming novel, The Story Hour.
A Chautauqua Pass is required to enter the grounds of Lakeside Chautauqua. A (one-day) Daily Chautauqua Pass is $19.75 for adults and $13.75 for youth (ages 12-18) per day. A Partial Day Chautauqua Pass (three-hours) is also available for $6.50, which does not include admission to Hoover Auditorium nightly entertainment.
Limited, free parking is available at Danbury High School (cars must be registered at the Hoover Auditorium Ticket Office). There is no shuttle service provided to or from the school. To park on the grounds or in the South Gate Parking Lot, a Daily Auto Pass is required for $8.25 per day or a Season Auto Pass.
