Trustees said Scott Scarborough starts as president on July 1. He’s been provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Toledo since 2012.

The other finalists were the provost at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Tressel, who’s been an Akron administrator for two years.

Tressel remains a finalist for the presidency at Youngstown State University, where he previously coached. Youngstown State trustees meet today.
