Get ready for plenty of orange barrels across Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Transportation’s construction season this year will include more than 900 construction projects totaling $2.5 billion.

Gov. John Kasich said the projects will bring jobs to Ohio. He made the comments during a news conference Wednesday to formally kick off the construction season.

Many of the projects are on tap because of Kasich’s decision to raise about $1.5 billion for state highway projects through Ohio Turnpike bonds.

The (Toledo) Blade reported state transportation director Jerry Wray said many of those projects would have been delayed for years without the turnpike bonds. But some lawmakers have voiced concern the plan will lead to higher tolls on the turnpike.

More union jobs.

Dr. Information

How do you recognize a unionized road crew vs a private road crew? Unionized federal paid road crews have 3x as many guys on site and only about 4 are working.
