The National Weather Service said 30.9 inches of snow have fallen in Toledo so far in January.

The Blade newspaper reported the snowfall amount tops the old mark set in January 1978. That was the same month of the famed Blizzard of ’78.

More than 50 people died in the blizzard that shut down much of the state at the end of January 36 years ago.
