Patrol shuffles deck amid bad behavior

Trooper Shane Johnson, 43, has has been on paid sick leave from his duties at the Toledo post since August. He was arraigned in December on a first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence charge, according to an article in the Norwalk Reflector.

Another Ohio Highway Patrol officer demoted after allegedly making false allegations of child abuse was transferred to the Fremont Post late last year, according to a report from the Toledo Blade. Patrol Sgt. Eric Gonzalez gave the Perrysburg Police wrong information in filing a report about alleged child abuse, according to the Blade article.

Patrol public affairs commander Lt. Anne Ralston told the Register last week the Patrol was reviewing investigations and reports of domestic violence and alleged sexual behavior with a child involving Trooper Ricky Vitte Jr., who was investigated by the Sandusky County sheriff's office.
