It's a new name and new address but this company continues to offer the same energy efficient savings.
The former FutureGreen, which focused on alternative energy and energy efficiency, is now Parallax Lighting, said owner Stuart Wells.
The business, which operated for six years helping companies invest in environmentally friendly technologies including alternative wind energy and energy efficient lighting systems, is now focused solely on lighting.
“I have a passion for lighting,” Wells said.
So does his staff, made up of his wife Melissa, two sales representatives and a business manager.
They moved down Perkins Avenue from 2016 to 1717 E. Perkins Ave., in the Poulos- Schmid Design Group architectural firm building.
The new location has an area to display the latest in lighting technology and fixtures.
Use of energy efficient lighting systems can save businesses on their expenses, thanks to lower utility bills.
Most lighting projects reduce the amount of energy used by at least 50 percent, he said.
“Technology has moved so far, such as lights that don't go out for 10 years and exit signs that use no electricity.” Wells said.
They specialize in commercial upgrades in either newer and older businesses.
Cost of the upgrades depends on the scope of the projects but the investments usually pay themselves back in two to three years.
Even new buildings can be helped.
“I have seen when a building is new they use 20-year-old technology,” Wells said.
There is a better way to operate and Wells explained that to anyone who would listen when he spoke on May 14 at the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance in Columbus.
He talked about the impact of lighting rebate programs on Ohio businesses. There are utility rebates where businesses get cash back as well as tax dedications to help offset the cost of upgrading lighting systems.
“Rebate programs are the future,” Wells said.
