Blink Optical helps residents see more clearly

Downtown Sandusky may have found the best candidate to buy into its vision of revitalization.

Dr. Carl Olson, an optometrist, is opening Blink Optical on Monday.

“I really want to make sure people’s eye health is being taken care of and their vision is the best it can be,” said Olson, of Columbus.

He said he practices with a basic philosophy to treat his patients as family.

He graduated from The Ohio State University's School of Optometry 12 years ago and opened a practice in Columbus.

His wife, Tiffany, is from Sandusky, so it only seemed natural to open up in office here so they could be closer to her family.

When Tiffany's brother recently purchased a building on East Market Street, the last hurdle gave away.

“We felt that energy," Olson said. "We wanted to be a part of the revitalization of downtown."

With senior housing and apartments a few blocks away, Olson is well-positioned to bring a much-needed service downtown. His practice offers comprehensive exams and quality products, including eyeware and frames at a good price.

Exams are $75, and the business will offer a wide variety of glasses, such as BeBe, Rayban and Vogue. They'll also have safety wear for sports-minded consumers.

The shop will accept insurance such as EyeMed, V.S.P, Spectera and Davis Vision, and its working on accepting Medicare coverage soon.
