Margaretta fire Chief Bill Mohr, right, accepts a $5,000 check from Sandusky Ventra employees Thursday morning at the Margaretta Township fire station. The fire department plans to use the donation to purchase equipment that tests fire hoses. The new equipment will be used to test the fire department's hoses, but it will also be used to test Ventra's equipment. "Ventra has been very supportive of local safety," Mohr said.

That is wonderful and the people of the township have and will continue to support the FD through levies. These guys are the BEST!!

Have to agree with bondgirlM on this one - Margaretta Fire and Rescue Depts. really are the best!!!! When we moved from inside the village of Castalia we were more than a little sad to find out that we moved to less than a mile outside the township limits and wouldn't be calling on their services anymore if we ever needed them again. My parents are both in their mid 80s and both had frequent need of their services and with also being lifelong residents of the Village we were all on first name basis with the guys and it was strange the first time we called SFD and not have anyone we knew coming - although they were very professional and caring as well, it just wasn't the same. Congrats guys and I know the money will be put to good use!!

I must agree, our family has unfortunately had to utilize the ambulance on several occasions. The paramedics on the squad were absolutely the best. We also know many of them by name. We know we are in the best hands. It's nice to see Ventra giving back to the community. Stay safe guys! You are greatly appreciated by your community.

As a resident of the Twp., Our family really appreciates the guys & gals of the fire dept!!! Thank you and God Bless...
