UPDATE 12:59 p.m. — Visiting Judge Dale Crawford and Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine shared the details of the grand jury findings during a one-hour press conference Wednesday morning.

Crawford said the grand jury inquiry found 19-year-old Jacob Limberios accidentally shot himself in the head on March 2, 2012, and the jury elected not to consider criminal charges against anyone.

DeWine detailed the investigation by his office, including obtaining opinions from two independent forensic pathologists that found Limberios was shot on the right side of his head, shown by beveling revealed in the multiple autopsies conducted on the body. Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation scientists also conducted tests on the gun that showed 30 percent of the time, it could be fired without the trigger being pulled.

No criminal charges will be filed in the case.

The civil lawsuit the family filed against Sandusky County coroner John Wukie will move forward, as Jacob's parents work to have the ruling on his death certificate changed from suicide to accident.

Food For Thought

Am I the only one who noticed that the family hired experts that never turned over photo's and tried to illegally wire tap witnesses? Looks to me like these "experts" didn't even follow the accepted standards that everyone wants Sandusky County to live up to. Just saying seems like they did more damage.

Look at the person that the state hired, Dr. Damaio was hired by the Zimmerman team. That doctor literally wrote the book on forensics, I think I believe the state over an attention hound.

The Bizness

verbal attacks will be coming your way in 3. 2. 1.....

A Young Adult's...

Will the family continue to persecute the witnesses? They don't deserve any of this.

Food For Thought

I agree. Heck if I was one of the those people I would be suing the family for trying to wiretap my phones. I am sorry, but you only hurt yourself by using illegal investigative techniques. What would have happened if they said "Man I can't believe we got away with killing that kid", the answer it would have been thrown out so fast your head would spin.

Now, while I disagree with the techniques, I don't feel that the family was trying to fabricate anything. I just think they are a family going through incredible sorrow and grief, and they are having a hard time coping with the accidental death of their son. Like I have said before, now is the time for the community to rally around and help this family grieve.

deertracker

I just don't agree with the persecution charge. It just didn't happen that way!

Food For Thought

So let me get this straight, two NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED pathologists (Cyril Wecht does not fall into that category, sorry), a coroner in a major city that sees her fair share of gunshot wounds, all say it happened one way. The people opposing their view are a local doctor and a paid "expert" that refused to turn over photos of the autopsy to the AG. I am sorry but it is time to let go, there is nothing there.

Dr. Da Maio addressed the lack of stippling, and he literally wrote the book on hand gun wounds. Dr. Baden, an accomplished pathologist in his own right, agreed with the findings of Dr. Biesser (Sp?) of Lucas county. Why would these two men have any incentive whatsoever to manipulate their findings? What do they stand to gain? You claim the Lucas County corner was part of the "Boys Club", what is your excuse now? That two experts from far outside of the state and it's politics are part of the Sandusky County "Boys Club". Give me a break, do you all hear how unbelievable that sounds?

Rather than let the facts be the facts and the outcome is based on that, the mindset here is the facts be screwed my explanation is correct.

deertracker

The question is who has been persecuted?

Random Thoughts

The parents said they accepted the AG's and Grand Jury's findings, so hopefully everyone else, including the Register, can accept them as well. Only more thing to do - change the death certificate and end the civil cases.

red white and blue

I hope they take this to the supreme court as far as they na sayers some day it will come J4J!!!!!!!

The Bizness

Are you trolling or are you for real?

A Young Adult's...

Trolling. Gotta be. The answer is right in front of everyone. Defective gun + mishandling and unsafe use of the gun. I feel terrible for the family. I also feel terrible for the witnesses who were also adversely affected by the incident.

deertracker

Do you still leave some cookies for santa too?

Peachy Keen

I'm sincerely sorry for the Limberios family's loss and don't have an opinion on whether the findings are right or wrong, but I'm hoping all those "Justice for" signs that have been polluting the landscape like old campaign signs will finally come down.

deertracker

Polluting? Wow!

mhs parent

Two things need to happen before My Justice for Jake Sign goes anywhere, 1. The Death Certificate needs to change and 2. Jakes Law needs to be in force. Until then it will continue to stay firmly posted in my front yard.

Simple Enough II

And what is Jakes law? How are we to fund it? Does the investigating agencies send a bill to the family of the deceased for expenses incurred? What next, the J4J crew going to hold everyone but Jacob responsible for his death? The hard fact of life is folks make mistakes with serious even deadly results as in this case.

starryeyes83

I Like how AG DeWine very gently slapped the hands of the "media over exposure". The media jumped on this like a dog with a bone without ALL the facts presented to them. From the get-go, knowing, that during an on going investigation certain aspects would have be kept quiet UNTIL it was concluded.

Hopefully, in the future they take a lesson in that.

deertracker

What investigation?

starryeyes83

What homicide? What death?

deertracker

Star, are you a bitter old woman? You sound like one!

starryeyes83

Same to you, Deer.

Although , I'm younger than you.

deertracker

If you say so old lady? Time to change your Depends now! Run along!

starryeyes83

Stick a fork in it, you're done. You lost.

The ruling is FINAL.

worddrow811

as for the bullet lodging in the ceiling, try ricochet, as in bounced off something else. time for CSI, not

starryeyes83

That's addressed in the text, near the end. Makes a lot of sense. He had his head tilted.

I couldn't hear all the verbal narrative, so reading it myself made things more clear.

deertracker

Yeah, let me tilt my head and shoot myself with a gun that has one in the chamber that I just put in there. How clear is that? Is your hair blue or blonde? Either way....................

starryeyes83

It's RED!! and still all natural-- for now. Idiot I t was pretty damn clear in the report, Why don't you go shoot your prunes off and choke, already. You seem to want to keep stirring the pot.

Why?

ski

This was a sad and unfortunate event. Please tell your kids and anyone else using firearms to always treat the gun as if it is loaded at all times and to put the guns away BEFORE bringing out the alcohol.

starryeyes83

Maybe those thoughts should have been put on all the yard signs, in the first place.

hazelwood

I agree. This whole tragic incident could have been avoided by one simple act, empty the gun and put it back into the car.
