New results same as old ones: Accidental suicide

Autopsy report released to newspaper
Register
May 23, 2013

The second autopsy confirms the initial conclusion by Sandusky County sheriff's deputies: Jacob Limberios killed himself but it might have been accidental.

Deputies reached that conclusion within just hours from when Jacob Limberios was killed on March 2, 2012, by a gunshot to the head.

Sandusky County coroner John Wukie used that finding in his death ruling despite never having examined the body, visiting the home where Jacob was killed or reviewing information with witnesses.

The Fremont News-Messenger reported Wednesday that the autopsy conducted by deputy Lucas County coroner Cynthia Beisser found deputies were correct in that original conclusion immediately after Jacob was killed (Click for article), but they were wrong about which hand Jake was using to shoot the gun.

Evidence was destroyed during the initial investigation, according to the Limberios family, and deputies failed to follow basic procedures or meet professional standards of criminal investigation.

Beisser performed her autopsy May 2, six months after Pittsburgh pathologist Cyril Wecht conducted an autopsy on behalf of the family after the county previously refused to order one. Wecht's autopsy found Jacob to have been the victim of a homicide.

The Register will post Beisser's autopsy report at the news website when officials respond to the request.

How are your reading and comprehension skills brassman? Her report does not say he killed himself. Her report does not state there is any scientific evidence proving that he killed himself. The report says the scientific evidence that would determine if he killed himself (the determination of range) gives no indication of soot but no determination can be made. This means she doesn't know how far away the gun was so it may have been a suicide or it may not have been. There is no more evidence that he killed himself now than there was before. "Not inconsistent" only means it is possible, not proven.

mrite

Apparently, Krissy, you are the one with comprehension prblems.

"The second autopsy confirms the initial conclusion by Sandusky County sheriff's deputies: Jacob Limberios killed himself but it might have been accidental."

This statement indicates that she concurrs with the initial coroners report the he did indeed kill himself.

Krissy3

Did you actually read the report. She says he might have committed suicide. She says she's unable to determine the range so she doesn't know if it was a contact wound or distant wound. That means its possible that is was a suicide, but also possible it was a homicide. It says the results are not inconsistent. That only means it is possible, not that it is proven. It also says the manner of death is pending until Wukie makes a decision, so she isn't even deciding on her own autopsy report. It also says the manner of death is not decided on the autopsy table, which means she has no scientific evidence proving suicide or homicide and she is letting the county decide.

Why don't you actually read the report instead of a media headline?

mrite

Are you implying that the SR is misleading us??

mrite

Read it. Her opinion is not indifferent to Wukie's.

Krissy3

She doesn't give an opinion! She says the manner of death is pending. That means she didn't decide or offer an opinion whether it is suicide or homicide. She simply stated to Dr. Wukie that it could have been a suicide. Good lord!

sandtown born a...

your opinion is just that a opinion, I hope your never in the spot of this family dealing with totally mayberry investigating and forensics or the lack there of. I dont know what the truth really is nor does it affect me in any way, but to see the type of investigation and CYA steps taken here from stonewalling to flat out neglience in upholding the law is just sad to say it mildly

so.....

The boy is right handed. His exitt wound is on the right side. Please explain how he did that?

bobaluey

some people can shoot or write with either hand.

so.....

really??? That's your answer???? Very scientific

bobaluey

anythings possible

so.....

Again. .really???? That's the best you can do?? Winning a 500million dollar powerball is possible. Chances of it happening. ..slim. just like jake shooting with both hands...smh

starryeyes83

They said "either" hand NOT both,

Big difference.

so.....

Ok starry....chances of jake being able to shoot with EITHER HAND is slim. Doesnt change the chances of a right handed person shooting with his left hand.

starryeyes83

Ah, but, SLIM is not NONE.

chongo

Good, how many more times is the family gonna have to hear the same conclusion here before we stop spending tax dollars over and over for the same results.. time to close the case, and start the healing.. move on a bit if/when we can.

It appears that Dr Beisser did enlist the help of others:

"Beisser also enlisted a forensic anthropologist to reconstruct Limberios’ skull fragments to gather more information about the gunshot wound to Limberios’ head, according to her report. Beisser said her report was hampered by an inability to examine all tissue samples Wecht took from Limberios."

Maybe if the self described "world famous" Dr Wecht would have assisted by providing the requested samples this could have had a more concrete answer.

mamaC

MRite you would NOT give up the last tissue sample if it was the Last piece of evidence of proof that your child didn't kill themselves! Explain this then how can Dr. Beisser say the bullet was RIGHT TO LEFT when the Sandusky County EMS & Capt. Meggitt & the funeral home along with Dr Wecht say it was Left To Right??? Now Dr. Beisser wants this Julie Saul to agree with her and prove it by reconstruction that it went RIght TO Left. She has even been discredited by the Ohio Supreme Court as not a creditable excerpt in this. Review Justice for Jake facebook page for all this info coming out! This family has nothing to hide behind and has all the proof they need. So quit being a troll and deal with the facts!

brassman

Yes, you would. If you really wanted to know the truth, then you would make sure they had every bit of evidence. It seems more like the truth isn't as important as not wanting to admit that he killed himself.

mamaC

Brassman sounds like your guilty of something??? do tell please..

brassman

What are you talking about?

sandtown born a...

MAYBE if the investigating was done to begin with this would not even be being discussed at all

so.....

He did supply them when he did his autopsy. But they have managed to disappear. Now they want the rest of the sample too. So that can disappear too???
She also said answers are not found at the autopsy table but also with the crime scene. The county hampers that part because they allowed those kids to change clothes, shoes without bagging and taking them.they threw them away.

sandtown born a...

Beisser and Wecht agree the bullet entered in a downward direction.(taken from the news messenger) OK I am no forensics expert BUT HOW IN THE HECK WAS THE BULLET THAT KILLED HIM RECOVERED FROM THE CIELING MONTHS LATER

sandtown born a...

OK lets see here he was standing on his head with a cell phone in his right hand while talking on it, a 357 handgun in his nondominant left hand accidentally shoots himself in the head then still manages to put his phone in his right front pocket which is where they found it, YEP makes perfect sense to me CASE CLOSED, SIGNED SANDUSKY COUNTY

Kayleigh.Bowers

Hey Will! Ya Brassman, hope you're having a good day! If you're with sean tell him I say hi. Oh and dont misread this article, it is not in the witnesses favor the author is just touching base with what Cynthia Beisser reported so don't get too excited over all of this.

brassman

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Kayleigh.Bowers

Thats the response I was expecting from you, Will.

brassman

Wow, you just can't accept that unbiased citizens can actually have an opinion different than yours. I don't know anyone named Will. My name is Andrew and I am not involved personally in any of this fiasco.
