Attorney Dan McGookey filed an affidavit with the Ohio Supreme Court on Thursday asking the judges to disqualify Judge John Dewey from the Limberios case and void his Feb. 5 ruling appointing Tiffin attorney Dean Henry to conduct a criminal investigation in addition to serving as defense counsel for the county.

How can you "disagree with a lot of what he prints in his paper" and yet "choose to read both papers"? To educate yourself? Please. If you disagree so much, then why waste your time commenting on stories? If you want to educate yourself, read USA Today, Newsweek, NY Times, or stick with your Messenger.

If you have been on the News Messenger site I am also a active blogger on that site. Which take more courage then the registers site because it links you to your facebook.

there will be consequence for your actions. Fear us, Fear God, Fear the truth.

I only see that as a threat if I had done something wrong or have hidden the truth to benefit or protect someone...it is obviously the county officials screwed this up and there was a reason...he is in fear, because he knows he is crooked and he knows if things are exposed, he will lose his comfy lifestyle...that is the threat...other then that..i see no threat there

Let me explain myself. I do disagree with some of the stories printed. Example of this would be this specific case and article. I feel that it has been drawn out and used to sell papers. I understand that they are pushing for "Justice" or a high quality investigation as I see it, but I do not feel it needs to be a daily occurrence. Even though I feel this way some of the articles have been very informational, and I have used them to form my opinion. Another Example would be the shooting of a dog in Sandusky. So in recap I disagree with the way the information is presented and over used. Secondly Im not sure if you know this but papers like the USA Today, Newsweek and The Times do not cover stories about Fremont or Sandusky County...

If the Register is going to stick with the "Justice" theme for lack of better words. I would like to draw attention to the Clyde Cancer Cluster which is also located in Sandusky County. If I am correct there is a small group of families that have been affected by this suing the Whirlpool Corp. that is believed to be responsible for this. This case does not pertain to one wrongful death but several of young children. I am and not advocating that the Register leaves the Justice for Jake Campaign alone because I know they will not,but it would be nice to see justice everywhere in Sandusky County. Before I get ridiculed by the strong supports for the Justice for Jake Campaign for changing the subject this message was for Mr. Westerhold. It would be nice to see some new Headlines.

They have done Cancer Cluster stories

OMGreally

there have been several stories in the register in relation the cancer cluster...but nice deflection...

Matt Westerhold

Thanks for the comment. The Register has provided extensive coverage on the Clyde cancer cluster for years, and has been a leader in that coverage. Here are some (Link) (Link) links to story indexes. Unfortunately all of the past coverage is not linked here but I'd venture to guess there has been more than 300 stories about the cancer cluster published by the Register during the last few years.

I think it does need to be reported frequently until this very important issue is addressed by an impartial jurisdictional authority.

The family has some very legitimate concerns about how things were handled in Sandusky County.
Sandusky County does not respond, probably because of the pending legal actions.
If readers are frustrated with the coverage, and articles regarding this, they can simply choose not to read. The SR has helped raise awareness for the family. The very simple fact in this whole case and I have stated many times, there should have been an autopsy from day 1. 4 kids, beer and a gun, with one child dead....I think even the officials involved have to look back and admit that, but since they didn't, it seems like one person tried to protect another, who tried to protect another, etc..... Then the family kept pushing for answers. Their "authority" was questioned and it appears that they don't like that. It's no different than strict teacher or parent who won't listen to a child who questions their authority. They are right, and there is no other opinion allowed. I don't know if the officials involved read these articles or comments, I suspect they or someone close to them do and I hope they do. Personally, and I'm an outsider looking in, I want the question answered, why...why didn't they do an autopsy 14 months ago? I will never understand. I saw an article recently where there was a man that shot himself in Erie County, 1 guy, 1 dead body and they sent it for an autopsy....I just do not understand.

I'm baffled by all of this. Yes, the investigation was certainly bungled. BUT, County officials and a hired special prosecutor are trying to get to the truth, and trying to make a case that will be provable in Court. We all know this usually requires forensic evidence. There would be a huge number of questons regarding a "bought and paid for" autopsy like that conducted by Wecht. The case requires an unbiased autopsy and although that is quite painful for the family, and I understand their distress, it seems as if they are throwing every roadblock they can to REALLY getting "Justice for Jake". Justice will be served for EVERYONE when the person responsible is convictedin Court.

OMGreally

While I agree with this in theory, because in a perfect world this would be true. But for this case, I really can't imagine that these people (Sandusky Co. officials) are going to come back with anything different then what they said before, because in doing so would be admitting that they bungled the investigation from the beginning and that would be putting their reputations and possibly their careers in jeopardy. Plus, everything they needed to make a determination was given to them months ago. You aren't going to be able to tell by looking at say, his kidney, that it was suicide or murder. And "IF" they were looking to try and "help" the family, don't you think they would have told the family, even if in private, hey listen, we are going to have to dig him back up again. We know this will be painful, but we need to do this to help prove or disprove what you are saying. No, they didn't notify the family in any way shape or form, even though they knew. All in all, I will be surprised if this latest autopsy comes back saying anything different then what they have been saying all along...

KUDOS to SanReg for keeping this local important issue front and center. Can we get a direct address of the Ohio Supreme Court so we as individuals can write to them and express our concerns?
