A man was rescued by Port Clinton police Tuesday after he lost energy while swimming in Lake Erie, a police report said.

Police were notified of a man who appeared to be on an inner tube about 700 yards out on the lake from Brands' Marina.

Two Port Clinton police vessels were dispatched and found the man who was hanging onto a flotation device, the report said.

The man did not have visible injuries, the report said, and told police he was swimming but did not have energy to make it back. He was transported safely to shore and treated by EMS.

Port Clinton police Chief Rob Hickman thanked Lukas Johnson who informed authorities of the man in distress.
