A group of Sandusky boys were arrested Monday for allegedly siphoning gas from a piece of equipment in the downtown parking garage.

An 14-year-old Third Street boy and 14-year-old East Monroe Street boy were both charged with criminal mischief and theft. An 11-year-old Third Street boy was also charged with criminal mischief.

On Aug. 1, a public employee told Sandusky police that someone had tampered with the ignition on a John Deere Gator cart and had also tried to remove its tire boot.

During a second incident, gas was stolen from the same cart, according to a police report.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage and on Monday, two other children were able to identify the boys involved, the report said.

After police rounded the kids up for questioning, the two boys charged with theft admitted stealing the gasoline, though they said they were only able to obtain a small amount.

The third child was only charged with criminal mischief, because he was not with the older boys when they allegedly stole the gas.

All three were taken to the Erie County Detention Home.

Hey Sandusky Register, why don't you start posting their names. Give them the attention they crave and at the same time let us all know who we cannot trust. It's time we start treating them like the criminals they are, notoriety and all!
