Earlier updates

Three people were killed in Fremont overnight when a gunman opened fire inside the Last Call Bar on West Sate Street.

"Two were pronounced dead at the scene," a news release from the Fremont Police Department states.

A third person died later at Fremont Memorial Hospital, and a fourth victim who was shot was flown to a Toledo Hospital.

There was a second shooting at about 3 a.m. in the area of the Night RIders Motorcycle Club in the 200 block of Allen Street, police said. Nobody was located after police went there, but a male later showed up at the Fremont Memorial Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

That man who was shot in the second incident refused to provide police information about what happened.

The two incidents appear unrelated, police said, and they are still searching for the shooters involved.

A  person who contacted the Register said an off-duty Elmore police officer was among the dead.

The woman told the Register she was at a restaurant when she heard about the shooting.

"I was at Denny's eating when everybody started talking about this shooting," she said. "I drove by and there were 17 police cars, local, the sheriff and the state police there."

She said she was told a bouncer at the bar was killed, along with an off-duty Elmore police officer.

An Elmore police cruiser was among the many police cruisers she saw at the Last Call when she drove past the bar.  A body was still lying in a doorway, she said.

The shooting at the Last Call occurred at about 1:30 a.m., police said, and the suspected gunman was described as a short male.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Fremont Police Department at 419-332-6464.

Detective Sgt Bliss and det. Captain Wolf are investigating.

4 mexicans with guns. whats all the fuss about?

Well for one it was one person with a gun, no description given of the suspect. Secondly one was an off duty police officer and another, by what I gather was a soldier. Oh and here's one more thing they were all, wait for it.......... AMERICAN!!!!

Thank you. Good response.

Fremont Mayor Jim Ellis, reporting they have one suspect in custody.

Simple Enough II

Ellis, meh.

Simple Enough II

Beachum has a real nice arrest and trial record, was always curios what went on at that after hours bar running under the guise of a "respectable " motorcycle club house? Anyone know who they are a beech club for, I really doubt HA would have anything to do with them.

And Sandusky will be welcoming this outfit next summer.

getit right be4...

Here is a link to Ohioans for Concealed Carry web page. If you are interested in learning the laws of Ohio there are many folks on the forms that are willing to help out. I have learned a lot from these people over the years.

A socialist, an illegal immigrant and a Muslim walk into a bar.

The bartender asks, “what’ll you have Mr. President?” Anyway….

Carrying a gun is antithetical to what Jesus preached, how he lived, and how he died. Trusting in guns is a failure of trust in God’s plan on how the Christian should approach the world and each other.

Gun advocates use of fear mongering in an attempt to create a society where
everyone is armed and in constant fear is nothing short of paranoid irrationality.

Being frightened by your own shadow, you pick up your gun and wave it around to feel like a man. I’d rather die like a man, than live like a coward.

While defensive gun use may occasionally occur successfully, it is rare and very much the exception – it doesn't change the fact that actually owning and using a firearm hugely increases the risk of being shot.

I agree fully. The bad guy already has his method and gun ready when it starts.

I know some ccw guys.. they are prisoners of their own imaginations... always looking for threats. Even if you have to travel to cities where there is a murder a day, the odds of your being involved are slim.

They truly believe that having that gun protects them.

thinkagain: You know all about fear mongering don't you? You are just a bible thumping mouth breather.

Where is little girl I mean giant. They always seem to post on here when DJ is the problem. Now its in your backyard does DJ remind you of home now.

Little Giant

Yeah the trash floats down river from Fremont and settles in Sandusky. Isn't it amazing it took Fremont police about a day to find out who this guy was and arrest him? Sandusky has so many dirtbags and the DJ's crowd never sees anything. What do you have to say about that Johnny?

Now...back to the headlines.

Ned Mandingo

I wonder if it was a illegal alien who shot them?

looking around

Nothing good happens in a bar after midnight! Glad to hear so many CCW holders or future CCW holders will be sitting at the bar sipping cokes and anxiously waiting to protect the unarmed patrons! You might make your first stop at DJ's I hear there is a lot of action there for the caped crusaders! Sometimes the lighting is poor, consider laser sights.

So do you know by experience about the lighting at DJ's or another freakmont resident.

I grew up around guns and have yet to shoot myself or anyone else for that matter. I could shoot someone if my family was in danger but I don't sit and let my imagination run wild and shoot the next person I hear around my house!!

@think again: I hope your Jesus is around when some criminal breaks into your house and threatens your family. Me, personally, would have my gun in reach to protect mine.

Here we go with another murder infact 3 in Sandusky County. Lets hope they can get this investigation correct.

Won't these three deaths have to be ruled on by the Sandusky County Corner? Here we go again..............I wonder if he will come up with some stupid decision this time and give us that....NO I am not changing it no matter how much proof and logic everyone long is it before this guy is up for election? There has to be some doctor in the county more qualified than he is in Sandusky County to be corner. A person right out of medical school I am sure can do a better job than the guy we got now in Sandusky County.

@babymama just in case you forget how to read the new laws in carry conceal for the state of ohio ,but you ARE in fact allowed to carry a handgun into a bar LEGALLY without being a criminal ... As long as your not drinking and you are a CCW holder ... But with your brilliance on knowing the law I'm sure you already knew that . That's how innocent people protect themselves inside a bar from scumbags like this !

So alot of people who have no idea about carrying a firearm seem to be spouting off alot of garbage here. Get a firearm, get a chl from quality instructor, research and know the firearms you use, and just like any skill practice. Are there chl folks that are idiots? Im sure there are. but I know many chl certified folks that are good people that understand the responsibility of carry a gun. These are people that understand the 4 basic rules of firearms (google em if ya dont know). And by no means does carrying a firearm make you invincible, it is not a talisman that just renders attackers dead. It isnt a gaurantee of getting out of the sitution, but with proper knowledge and training it does give you a better chance than if you didnt have it. And before any of the prior things I mentioned, 1st good training will teach you to be aware and not be in the majority of situations that you would need to use it anyway. And for people that think using a firearm succesfully in a self defense situation is rare, i suggest you go to youtube and view the 1000's of videos of newscast, security cam's, and videos that say other wise. I will go even one further and state that there are more well trained chl citizens than there are police. Alot of people believe that police officers have some magic know how that we dont. If people would research there are alot more run of the day citizens who train more often. Im not trying to offend or irritate folks but alot of commentors have their opinion and try to pass it on as fact. Im just saying look the stuff up. A very high majority of chl holders are knowledgable, well trained, and know how to use good judgement. They also understand the responsibility and consequences of carrying a firearm.

From the Grave

The people that keep talking about CCW here would never be at this bar(for sure that late), or have their gun with them, or even bother to use it if they WERE there(or even have the chance). So it's not even a relevant discussion connected to this story.

Hey readers ,don't yea think enough bullets have been shot and enough hate has cause enough blood shed that we don't need to take shots at one another on this blob . We need to support one another and try to understand what happened and why so we can try and put an end to this senseless loss of life. This is a time to morn the loss as well ad the famlies and try to bring the ones responsible to justice. Taken and coming on here and taken shoots at one another is only going to add to a already stress full time for the residents of Fremont as well as the families of the killed or injured .

People don't kill... guns kill......that gun must have feet to have walked into that bar and shot people....and all the way from Texas,
