Thomas Round, 24, was charged with one count child endangering.
The manager of Erie Village Apartments went to Round’s apartment at about 4 p.m. to check on the residence, as Round and his girlfriend had been evicted, according to an Erie County deputy’s report.
Inside, they found the apartment dirty and in disarray. The couple’s 2-year-old boy was alone, with mucus running down his face, the report said.
Deputies soon arrived and called a social worker to the scene. After about 20 minutes, Round walked through the door. He told deputies he’d been away for only five minutes as he moved items to the couple’s new unit, the report said.
The social worker said she had an open case involving the family, because of heroin use. She made arrangements to place the boy in protective custody with his uncle.
Deputies took Round to the Erie County jail.
