New this year is the option to purchase a one-year tag for $16, a three-year tag for $48 or a permanent tag for $160. Longer-term licenses are not refundable. For an additional $5 ($21 per tag), receive a fireplug-shaped tag for 2014. The extra money will be used for medical treatment for dogs at the Huron County Dog Pound.
Applications for dog and kennel licenses must be filed by Jan 31 to avoid penalty. Permanent tags and kennel licenses are available only at Huron County Auditor’s Office. A late fee of $16 per dog and $80 per kennel license will be charged if tags are purchased after the deadline.
An extra 75-cent fee will be charged for tags purchased at any outlet other than the Auditor’s Office, and an additional 50-cent fee will be charged for applications completed through the mail.
Outlet locations are: Bellevue Animal Hospital, York Animal Hospital, Buck’s Hardware, Greenwich, Monroeville Public Library, Gilbert Hardware, New London, Country Counter Market, North Fairfield, Huron County Dog Warden, Mapleview Animal Hospital, Huron County Humane Society, Wakeman Hardware and Willard Fish and Game.
