UPDATE: Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers were reopening Ohio 2 at about 1:30 p.m. after a report of a possible bomb turned out to be a false alarm.
A bomb squad detonated an object that turned out to be a waterproof document holder.
EARLIER: Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers closed the road at about 11:45 a.m. and traffic will be diverted from the area, a dispatcher said.
A Lorain County bomb squad is on its way to the scene, she said.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area. The eastbound and westbound lanes of Ohio 2 will be closed in that area.
An Ohio Department of Transportation worker was out in the area Tuesday morning between Risden and Barnes roads when he found the suspected pipe bomb and called the patrol.
