Getting by with a lot of help from his friends

Local cancer survivor, Larry Riedy from Sandusky, has pulled his friends together to raise funds for people with a cancer diagnosis

On Sunday, April 6, 2014, Larry was joined by his friends, family and local Sons of the AMVETS Post 17 colleagues, had worked hard to get everything in order for the big day at the Sons of the AMVETS Spaghetti & Meatball Fundraiser benefitting Cancer Services.   

Cancer Services is a local non-profit that provides free services to people with cancer.  Riedy and friends raised $14,000 for the charity that is very close to their hearts.

Riedy said: “I’m really excited about what we accomplished.  We had close to 900 dinners served.  We are determined to raise all we can to fund the vital work being carried out by Cancer Services.  Local people have really supported our fundraising and all of my friends and family have promised to help next year. Every day people are burdened with the physical, emotional and financial side effects of cancer.  Cancer Services is there to help, like they helped me.”

Cancer Services has been a non-profit since 1960 with a mission of assisting cancer patients and their families emotionally and financially.  Their services include: financial assistance for cancer related medications, liquid nutritional supplements, medical equipment for loan, wigs, travel reimbursement, rides to medical appointment and more, are free of charge.   If you would like to know more about their services or want to support this event, please call 419.626.4548 or stop in at Cancer Services, located at 505 E.
