But but but, Sold & Co already read every word - isn't this old news?

Sit n Spin

I think the 2,700 pages should be released in a trilogy "50 Shades of Fox". The proceeds can go towards Fred's defense fund !

Still Sold

Fred doesn't need a defense fund, Spinner..
We're paying for it when we pay our property taxes.

Sit n Spin

That was my attempt at tongue / cheek sense of humor, my apologies as I failed to humor you :)

Matt Easterhold

Huron schools are thriving under Fred Fox leadership. Meanwhile Perkins schools are falling apart financially and academically declining under Gunner leadership. Yet the SR plays right along with Perkins Schools misuse of taxpayer funds and continues to support them!

What does the SR have to gain by not attacking Perkins Schools the way they do everyone else?

There you go again

Matt Southerhold,
There's not enough room in the SR to handle Huron and Perkins! Guess they chose Huron for now, but I'm thinking Perkins will get their fair share!

Huron_1969

We should settle it in the "Thunderdome" !!!

Tsu Dho Nimh

Don't be so sure the Huron schools are thriving as much as the Fox supporters want you to think. They have slipped from Excellent with Distinction to Excellent. Also, when you compare Huron with similar districts in the state, the district is in the middle. The school district has slipped on its report card the last few years Fox was in charge.

nobodyfromnowhere

So it all Fox's fault?

Tsu Dho Nimh

He was willing to take all of the credit, wasn't he?

oldpirate

Easterhold you misrepresent the facts, Huron was close to being state regulated and all area schools except Sandusky, who has state funds galore, are in financial distress through no control of their own.

Tsu Dho Nimh

Sold does not want people to know that there is another summary of the Fox hearing. It is better written and backed with testimony and case law. Let us not forget, Mr. Taiche's finding is just one opinion. The arguments made in the other report could win a lawsuit.

nobodyfromnowhere

Well by all means where is this other "summary"? Or are you talking about the District's post hearing brief? If so that is extremely biased (as it would be expected to be) by its nature as a written argument by the District to support its position.

Still Sold

Sold hasn't commented.
I want everyone to know everything unlike the 'dark side' who only want people to think they know while the truth gets uglier and uglier.

Tsu Dho Nimh

How many times have we heard Sold say that Kalahari is not a vendor?

Check # Date Payee and Amount

"This abatement had been under discussion for some months, as Weis discussed in his December 3, 2010 “Board Update” (Bd. 13, pp. H000087-88), in which Weis explained that “[b]ecause of Fred’s relationship with Todd Nelson I did the negotiations so as to avoid any conflict of interest.”

"Fourth, Fox was, or should have been, aware of the ethical prohibitions on his seeking or accepting complimentary golf. Fox admits he may have talked with Lally about this trip. (T. 87) Lally testified that he told Fox such a trip was unacceptable. (T. 1730-1731) Fox attended an ethics seminar presented by the Ohio School Boards Association just days before he
went on this golf trip. (Bd. 11; T. 88) He admits that he typically stayed for the entire meeting at such events. (T. 90) One of the ethics scenarios discussed there specifically concerned golf outings, and the impropriety of accepting “anything of value” such as complimentary golf, food
and beverages;"

Looks like an ethics violation to me!

UgtaBkdnMe

Maybe Freddy was busy texting his honey and missed the part about golf !

Huron_1969

Did he get a hole in one ?

Huron_1969

ooops.... duplicate

nobodyfromnowhere

Please produce evidence of "substantial and undue influence" as required in ORC 102.03 D&E. Unless you can do that there is no ethics violation. The District failed to do so.

Still Sold

They/he paid for the golf. $500 a day.
Stop splitting hairs.

Justme...

Read the summary of testimony, Sold. Its all in there.

Tsu Dho Nimh

Golf is not included in the room rate.

Tsu Dho Nimh

"A similar prohibition is incorporated into the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators, at §7(b), which defines conduct unbecoming an educator to include “[a]ccepting gifts from vendors or potential vendors for personal use or gain exceeding $25.00 in
value.” The evidence shows that this Code was distributed to all Ohio superintendents around the time it was adopted. (T. 1186-1187) This Code was in effect fully two years before Fox arranged his 2010 golf trip and accepted a heavily discounted room rate and complimentary golf."

Tsu Dho Nimh

"9. The system shall be used only for purposes related to education or administration of the District. Commercial, political and/or personal use of the system is strictly prohibited. The administration reserves the right to monitor any computer "

"Fox is the leader of the district. With the exception of Treasurer Weis and the few business employees who report to Weis, all other district employees report to Fox. (T. 1015) If Fox was aware that his subordinates were violating Board policy, it was his responsibility to initiate disciplinary action, or see that the employee’s immediate supervisor did so. (T. 2599-2602) Fox proffered no evidence to support his assertions that others violated the policy, or that someone other than Fox himself should have initiated disciplinary action for such an offense."

Darwin's choice

Keep throwing.........!
haters are gonna hate.......!

Tsu Dho Nimh

"Fox’s reference to the Tiger Trader is also a red herring. He asserted that it is used by many employees, and tried to imply that it is part of the district’s e-mail system. It is not part of the e-mail system. It is a separate platform. (T. 643-644) It even has a separate icon on the computer desktop. (T. 1074-1075) Moreover, it is undisputed that the Tiger Trader platform was specifically created for, and intended to be used by, district employees to trade and sell personal items. (Id., T. 980-981) This distinguished it from the e-mail system, which employees
were specifically forbidden by Board policy to use for personal purposes."

Tsu Dho Nimh

"Policy DLC-R, at ¶ 2D, states that “rental cars may be used only in cases ofemergency or when no other means of local transportation is practicable and the rental has been pre-approved.” (Id., emphasis added) The conference brochure shows that the conference was held at the same hotel for which Fox submitted an invoice to seek reimbursement for his lodging
at the conference. (Bd. 16; Bd. 17):"

"Nowhere in the e-mail exchange discussing approval of Fox’s conference
attendance is there any approval of a car rental, nor indication of any intent to override existing Board policy. (Bd. 22; T. 1035) Fox proffered no Board minutes to substantiate his claim that such a rental was approved by the Board. Slocum and Green testified that no such discussion occurred at a Board meeting. (T. 543-545, 750-753, 2603) Similarly, Asher could recall no Board meeting discussion of Fox’s possibly renting a car while in Arizona. (T. 1900-1902,1937)"

nobodyfromnowhere

Yet the board ultimately approved reimbursement for the car. They could have declined but didn't. Makes it a non-issue.

Justme...

According to the districts summary, Green and Slocum testified that approval did not take place. So I guess it depends on who you think is lying.

UgtaBkdnMe

Keep throwing ! People need to KNOW the TRUTH ! Were did you get this ?

Tsu Dho Nimh

"That Fox’s intent in going to Arizona was to obtain a winter vacation
underwritten by the Board is evidenced by his complete failure to share any information from the conference with his school principals or curriculum director. (T. 377, 1079-1080, 1569-1570) That is especially odd if the purpose of Fox’s attendance was to bring back Effective Schools
ideas to the district; it is a site-based (school-building-based) model. It is even more peculiar that he chose to travel to Arizona to hear about Effective Schools, because (1) such conferences are available in Ohio, (2) Effective Schools was designed for districts with a different socioeconomic
composition than Huron Schools, and (3) Huron Schools stopped using Effective Schools several years ago. (T. 376-377, 1079, 1265, 1566-1567, 1665-1667)"

nobodyfromnowhere

Yet the board pre-approved the trip. They could have refused to do so but did not. Another non-issue.

Justme...

According to the emails they pre-approved a 3 day conference, not a 7 day trip.

Tsu Dho Nimh

"12 Fox’s ally, former Board member Nancy Bulea, verbally attacked Green in an executive session for supposedly involving the police in the first investigation. She apparently did not know that the police became involved after district employees went to Common Pleas Judge Ty Tone with allegations. (T. 714; Bd. 35)" Footnote

Tsu Dho Nimh

"Fox also discussed with Lally a plan to assure that Slocum participated in the “burying” of the Markling report. Fox told Lally that Fox’s lifelong friend, Asher, was attempting to obtain information from Slocum’s prior employer, showing that Slocum was fired for wrongdoing and, by holding this information over Slocum, attempting to assure the
“burying” of the Markling report. (T. 1676-1677)."

Kevin Asher made some ugly allegations in his conspiracy suit filed in the Erie County Courts that are consistent with the statement above. Let it be known, Mr. Slocum has a letter from his previous employer that supports that Mr. Slocum left on good terms and they would hire him back. Can we say bully?

Capt. Ford

Interesting....we now have the Tsu Dho Nimh show.

Sit n Spin

At least this "show" is filled with facts, not heresy & innuendo.

nobodyfromnowhere

Tsu is mearly regurigitating the District's brief which is (naturally) biased to the District's point of view and made solely to support their argument. It is not evidence or even necessarily fact just their argument.

Sit n Spin

Much like the Taich report and the Markling report....all these reports are biased unless you are one side of the fence like many seem to be, including yourself.

UgtaBkdnMe

Taiche's arguments wouldn't hold up in a court. Have you had a chance to read the post-hearing brief, Sit and Spin?

Sit n Spin

I have not. However, Mr. Taiche was obviously a "referee" with Freddie's best interest in mind for whatever reason, it was very obvious. Both reports (Markling & Taiche) are propaganda from both sides of the fence. Hopefully the OEC was on the fence when they did their investigation & reports the facts.

Tsu Dho Nimh

The brief is public record as of today. Hopefully the Register will have it online soon.

nobodyfromnowhere

The post hearing brief is only the district's version, used to support their argument. Taiche doesn't argue the case, the District and Fox did, he decides it. Thus he has no arguments to have to hold up in court. He has a decision and in that decision he stated the reasons that he came to said decision, he doesn't argue anything.

Truth or Fiction

There is an important distinction that is being overlooked. Marklng was hired by a split school board resulting in a degree of bias being attached to the report. His report was submitted to the Ohio Department of Education, an agency of the government that supposedly has no bias. The ODE looked at the facts presented and concluded "no wrong doing" recommending reinstatement.

Sit n Spin

A 3rd grader could read the Taiche report and conclude that it is every bit as biased as the Markling report. Both reports are as crooked as a stick in water. I'm waiting on the OEC to chime in, hopefully they will take an unbiased approach & deliver the truth. See y'all tomorrow !

UgtaBkdnMe

Good point.

nobodyfromnowhere

For the OEC to find an ethics violation there has to be evidence that there was a "substantial and undue influence" as required in ORC 102.03 D&E. Thus far there is no evidence that was the case.

Justme...

You are correct in what you post, but you are ignoring Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Teachers.

SilentMajority

Is there a tentative date for the OEC's findings?

Still Sold

The simple truth is what has already been said/printed/broadcasted..
The referee found NO WRONGDOING by Fred Fox and admonished the board for not doing their job.
Simple.

Tony,
forgot my phone this morning so instead of a text, I have to send you an actual emaiL. Met again last night until 11pm... basically decided to give Fred the opportunity to explain himself in executive session next Tuesday, May 22. Getting strong vibes from John Caporini and Kevin Asher that Fred "might" have made a few mistakes, but we'e all human sort of reaction. Very frustrating! at least the process is moving forward and getting closer to a final resolution.
