Note: Meeting date for open, regular meeting has been changed to 7:30 p.m. March 19.

The Huron school board has scheduled a special weekend meeting on March 16, three days ahead of its regular monthly meeting.

Board members plan to meet with attorneys about pending court action and personnel matters in the 10 a.m., closed-door, Saturday session a week from tomorrow. The board will consider the dismissal or discipline of a public employee but doesn't anticipate taking any formal action at the meeting, held in the reading area at Shawnee Elementary.

At the March 18 meeting, the board may then vote on the employment status of suspended superintendent Fred Fox. A report from an Ohio Department of Education referee should be delivered to the district this Monday. It will include a recommendation to either fire or reinstate Fox.

The board members can vote to accept or reject the referee’s recommendation, ultimately making the final decision on whether they’ll fire Fox based on 23 allegations leveled against him.

The investigation into Fox kicked off more than a year ago, when the board hired attorney Matt Markling to review a number of allegations. Markling has billed the district $90,000 for his work.

The issue has effectively divided the community.

If you don't vote to fire him you will all look like $90,000 clowns

nobodyfromnowhere

My understanding is that if the ODE recommends that Fox be retained but the BOE votes to fire him anyways the school's insurance carrier will immediately drop the policy and the district will be totally and solely responsible for any and all legal fees, damages, negotiated settlements, and/or court awards. That has the potential to make the $90,000 look like chump change!!

Huron_1969

Sold says the same thing..... we've entered the Twilight Zone

UgtaBkdnMe

That's probably true. The key word is IF. Don't think we have to worry about this scenario. But IF it does happen, I will have my umbrella ready. Would really hate to get poohed upon by one of the flying pigs.

Tsu Dho Nimh

I am predicting by 1:00pm Saturday that HHGuy/Sold on Fox will update us on what took place during the executive session. We will know where everyone sat and how the "three stooges'" body language indicated that they lost this fight. Fred will be exonerated and will have the last laugh.

Huron_1969

I believe the producers from Lifetime will be there as well

Darwin's choice

If you do vote to fire him, you will all look like $90,000 clowns anyway!

partyboy

TDN~ have you changed you opinion of the situation?? Will he lose the fight? As a interested bystander it seems that you have.

Tsu Dho Nimh

No, I have not changed my opinion at all. I was just predicting the report that we will read from Sold. It was my attempt at humor!

partyboy

Ok I get it.. sarcasm at it's best

HHGUY

No. I will give you the REAL results by noon on Monday.

There you go again

Why did Huron have to spend $90,000 to find out that Fred Fox was guilty. It was plain as day that he carried on recklessly while on the job. No need to spend $$. Why bother to carry on with secondary dealings? Is it to distract from the truth? Man, we get enough of that with Obama. Face the guilt, Fred, and leave Huron alone.

HHGUY

I love Obama. Absolutely brilliant!

UgtaBkdnMe

Do you see the SURPRISED look on my face ? Actually, I would think you love Clinton ... I did not have sex with that principal, Mrs. XXXXXX !

HHGUY

There you go. Get your wallet out. Got the guts?

UgtaBkdnMe

You really shouldn't bet. After the 19th, you're going to be officially umemployed and will need every cent you have !

Being the first truly independent look at this fiasco I'm sure the ODE report will be scrutinized by everybody involved, including the Ohio Ethics Commission. A smart Board will suck it up and follow what ever the ODE recommends, but this one who knows. At least one way or the other it's another step toward the end or the saga. If the ODE does recommend retention a smart board, and I'm sure with their insurance company's urging, will quickly go for a negotiated settlement, pay off Fox and try to move on and get back to the education of the children of Huron. It won't be cheap, think high 6 figures minimum, but still cost less in money and support than dragging this out for another year or more. My guess is that by the time that the current terms of the current board members are up most if not all will be gone, either by choosing not to run or defeat in the next election. Then maybe some healing can start and a new board can get their eyes on the ball.

Huron_1969

you sure sound like Sold

nobodyfromnowhere

Not sure who "Sold" is? The above screen name is the only one I have ever used to post on the Register forums.

Ακόμη Sold σχετ...

I'm Sold..
Sold's waiting for the 'Decision'.

HHGUY

Lets not forget that we have also lost Todd Nelson. He donates $750,000 and gets kicked in the teeth. Was ready to smack down another $600k for auditorium rehab. Gone. Put that also in the financial picture. Also don't forget that he has three more years to sue if he wants. Thank you SOWecke, Hastings-Green and Slocum. Will also need a million bucks in the future to replace football field. This District will not recover for 10 years. Thank you stooges.

Tsu Dho Nimh

There is only one person since June that refers to SOWecke and uses Hastings-Green. I thought you said you would not be back until after the ODE ruling, Sold. You sure do have an excessive admiration for Mr. Fox. Can we say narcissist?

Informed

Why on earth would Nelson sue? He was never accused of anything. He is not the one blames for anything. And as far as his donations, he can keep them. We didn't need that fancy, schmancy football field. And the auditorium is fine. When these huge donations are actually used for academics, then we can talk.

TaxRaider

Well said.

Ακόμη Sold σχετ...

Hahahaa... Sold Clones !
Honestly.. No one is me, but me.
BUT.. They are sure making sense and pay way more attention to the details than I ever would. I REALLY TRULY will not be back until March 11/12th.. Whenever 'the decision' comes down.

Thank you, Clones !

nobodyfromnowhere

I am nobody's clone. I can think for myself.

Tsu Dho Nimh

Sold, HHGuy must be in awe of you! Here is an example of phrases that are identical to and only used by you. Stooges, SOWecke, Hastings-Green. He also likes to capitalize words that should not be capitalizes such as The District - very Soldesque.

Thank you SOWecke, Hastings-Green and Slocum. Will also need a million bucks in the future to replace football field. This District will not recover for 10 years. Thank you stooges.

Just hope for your sake that HHGuy really is not a guy : )

It seems like even the top superintendent in the state is getting caught up in ethics issues:

Thanks for the link..... I hadn't seen news of this dude for the last few months
"Me First" sinks another career

Want to hear something funny ? State Rep Dennis Murray wasn't satisfied that the superintendent resigned. He wrote a letter to the Attorney General to investigate. He said that resigning didn't get him off the hook and wanted him held accountable if guilty. Same Murray family as Freddy Boy's attorney.
