Fox hearings shuttered to public

Termination hearings for suspended Huron Schools superintendent Fred Fox were closed to the public Tuesday.

Oct 23, 2012

The three days of hearings originally were scheduled to be open, but Fox had the right until the start of the hearing to have them in private.

The hearings, to be conducted before Ohio Department of Education referee Harry Taich, are concerning 23 allegations the Huron board of education has said warrant Fox's firing.

After the hearings, where witnesses will testify under oath, Taich will submit a written recommendation to the board, recommending that Fox either be reinstated or fired.

The board is not required to agree with the recommendation.

The accusations against Fox, many stemming from the 50-page Markling report, allege he carried on an improper business relationship with a district vendor, improperly submitted expenses for reimbursement related to a April 2011 trip to Arizona, and was involved in an extramarital affair on school time using school computers and email.

The wise words of Sold: "The hearing will be held in public because Fred Fox wants the public to know the truth, TDN. He's doing damage control but not in the way you describe."

This is why Mr. Fox decided to make the hearing PRIVATE at approximately 9:15. Lots of folks showed up except for the Tanns, Wechters, and Buleas (the Fox Fan Club). I do not believe he ever intended for this to be public.I will venture to guess that there is more incriminating evidence against Mr. Fox that the public has not yet heard. Sounds like Mr. Fox does not want us to hear the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!

Somehow I figured this was not going public. Not surprised. Something more is going on. When the Fox Fan Club does not show, you know there is big trouble brewing.

Is it legal to prohibit the public from attending these hearings?

Ακόμη Sold σχετ...

Nope..

These hearings would involve witnesses testifying...perhaps the decision was made to consider the privacy of ALL involved...? My goodness, this issue is so much bigger than the crucifiction of Mr. Fox. Procedure and protocol have been thrown out, I am sorry, voted out 3-2. This is about the lack of fiscal resposibility to the citizens of Huron. This is about an un-natural surge of power and showing the lack of respect for employees, and not just Mr Fox.

Amen !

Those e-mails are killers--just ask Detroit's former mayor.

Swamp Fox

Why would Mr. Fox want this hearing to be private if he did nothing wrong?

betweenlines

I'm sure it is to protect the administrators that are testifying. I'm sure he doesn't want to embarrass them further.

betweenlines...I hope that is your attempt at sarcasm because Freddy boy cares about one thing and one thing only......himself !

betweenlines

Dripping in sarcasm...absolutely! He has proven that he cares only about himself over and over. Hopefully the ODE will act quickly so we can put this whole mess behind us.

the truth will surface, and then the fox will need to answer all our questions ,right? probably he will be too selfish to fess up.

Informed

My guess is he and his lawyer realized evidence or testimony not already released to the public was going to be brought up in the hearing, and he didn't want everyone knowing about it. What other reason could there possibly be for changing his mind?

Tsu Dho Nimh

I agree!

If Fred was concerned about ALL involved, he would have requested a private hearing from the very beginning and not wait until the last minute. It appears that there is more to the story than we know and he does not want us to find out.

Which is it TDN ? Obviously, no matter what Fred Fox or his attorney does, you will find fault with it ? (But, that is your right). You found fault with them not going public to begin with and then you say that they planned this from the start ? Here's your previous post so you can read them together !

My statements are not hard to follow: I said a short while back that Fox had to go public or people will assume he has something to hide. If everything was already put out in the open, he would be a fool to go private. Yesterday I commented that when his biggest supporters did not show, he had decided prior to yesterday that he would request a private hearing (no need to show up if you know that it will be private). My conclusion is he DOES have something to hide.

Projection, according to Carl Jung, occurs when a person sees in another qualities they themselves possess. This phenomenon goes on daily in most relationships and encounters.

Doesn't surprise me one bit that we haven't heard from Sold on Fox. He's too busy picking crow feathers out of his teeth. He'll show up sometime explaining how Freddy Boy is just trying to protect his family from the public and his decision is greater than him. Yea, yea, whatever. Fred only cares about himself and it doesn't look to good for the Sly Fox.

No crow eating here.

At some point there will be a 'public' statement and I am beginning to wonder what will actually make it to the public, unlike the Markling report.

As I stated before: Even if the OED decides that Fred Fox should not be terminated, the Huron Board of Education will vote 3-2 not to accept it.

Getting to be old and boring news.

Highly doubt we'll hear from Sold On; to defend him like they did, it could have only been his mom, his lover or himself.

Ακόμη Sold σχετ...

Well.. Since the only thing that has been reported is what we all know, why are you waiting for me, his Mom, his lover or himself to comment?

I'm right here reading all of the nonsense.
