Suspended Huron Schools superintendent Fred Fox plans to publicly respond to allegations that the school board says warrant his termination.

Fox and his attorneys will have the floor at a special school board meeting Thursday.

There will be no comments from the public at the meeting, and the school board has no planstoaskFox any questions, district officials said.

Still, Fox’s attorney, Patrick Murray, said he hopes to have a dialogue rather than a monologue with the board.

Be sure to get a copy of today's Register for more on this story and check back here for updates as they happen.

Also, a PDF of the letter is posted below.

Just an FYI this is part of Fox's due process rights...It is called the Laudermill hearing..look it up.  It is the beginning steps in discipline or termination of a public employee...Luaderville vs Cleveland Schools

That would be Loudermill Rights there partyboy ;)

No matter how it's spelled it still smells like bad fish doing this 'investigation' backwards.

@ just me...there was a recording of a meeting with the board.  lawyer and Fox present. The lawyer asked for the complaint in writing and the board refused.. I remember hearing he lawyer ask for them and not get them.  And I also remember he never got the chance to answer them.    It was when this first started.

Do you recall that recording?

I have no feelings one way or the other for or against Fox, but I am watching concerning the procedures by this board just to see if they followed and got it right or wrong.  I think they got it wrong and this is nothing more than a witch hunt.

I doubt that ONE board member speaks at all in their own defense of the complaints.  Not one.

wiredmama222

@ just me....if one board member can justify his or her complaints with a truthful statement of fact, then I will go along with it.  If not, its a witch hunt.

Not being from Huron, I really don't know.  It just seems like someone or several people trying to gang up on one person without giving him the right to speak.

That is not far at all.  Just my opinion, which isn't worth a thing....lol.  But from the outside, looking in, it seems fishy to me.  and has from the start.  I don't know these people at all.

Wiredmama222-

For someone who is looking at this from the outside, it's refreshing to read you saying to give Fred Fox a chance to publicly answer the accusations.

You are correct in your recollections to point out that Fred Fox's attorney asked for the accusations in writing.

You are correct in your recollections to point out that the Board refused to give Fred Fox, or his attorney, a written accusation.

Yet, Board member, Tim Sowecke had no problem making the Fred Fox accusations public ?

The Board, from the beginning of this, has acted in a way that even their own attornies, (yes plural), cannot understand.

Be sure of this: The Huron Board of Education will not utter a word tonight, if they actually follow all of their attornies' advice.

It's about time Fred Fox is given a chance to answer what he has been accused of.

Honestly.. This Board, well, a member not acting as a member hand delivered the report to the Ohio Ethics Commission without the vote of the Board.

This made the document public before even showing it to Fred Fox or his attorney.

The cart is way ahead of the horse in this 'investigation'.

You are missing my point. Fred Fox should have been afforded the executive session before Tim Sowecke made this whole mess public. Not a mis-statement at all. As you skim what I post you are bound to miss things. Your posts, however, are easy to follow because you can barely put two sentences together..

This should be interesting.

Dialogue: a conversation between 2 more people; an exchange of opinions on a particular subject

Monologue: a speech presented by a single character; a dramatic sketch performed by one actor

a) is this meeting open to the public or is it an executive session ?

b) date, time and location ?

(basic info that shouldn't need to be requested)

I believe the article states Pat Murray, not Murphy.

'Suspended Huron Schools superintendent Fred Fox plans to publicly respond to allegations that the school board says warrant his termination.'

Publicly respond. That's what it says: publicly. This rules out an executive session, at least for Fred Fox's part of the meeting which if it is held 'special' for this issue.. This issue will be the only one 'discussed'. I would be amazed if the Huron Board of Education, (on advice from THEIR attornies), says one word besides 'go ahead Mr. Fox'.

'Fox and his attorneys will have the floor at a special school board meeting Thursday. There will be no comments from the public at the meeting, and the school board has no plans to ask Fox any questions, district officials said. Still, Fox’s attorney, Patrick Murray, said he hopes to have a dialogue rather than a monologue with the board.'

Good luck, Pat Murray. As I said above, on the advice from their attornies, the Huron Board of Education will have nothing to say. And really.. It's about time they said nothing.

This is Fred Fox's turn to say something publicly. Pat Murray can hope all he wants but if I were the Board's attornies I would have a shock collar on each of them. Everytime one of them even cleared his, or her, throat I'd push the button sending silencing waves of electricity through them.

(Maybe they should have done this sooner ? The shock collar I mean.)..

(and.. Maybe now we'll find out what Fred Fox is REALLY 'charged' with ?)

So.. meet you all here Friday morning !

I believe I asked this question about four weeks ago.  Why did this board NOT give Mr Fox the right to respond to these allegations in public?  Now I see they have to.

How interesting.  Is this not sort of backward and after the fact?  This should have been done LONG before anything was sent to the State, should it not?  It seems someone "jumped the gun", does it not?  Who is the legal council for this board any way?

They must have gotten some wrong information or they didn't get any before proceeding because NOW they let him speak and NOW they give him written allegations of why they are trying to dismiss him?  This is like locking the barn after the animals escape, isn't it?

This has been a screwed up mess from the beginning.  Now the board has to just sit there and listen???  Oh boy, that should be VERY interesting and awfully hard for them to do, since some of them may have to swallow a lump or two of crow if they don't like what they hear.

That may not be too easy for some of them.  And no sound from the audience???? Ohhhh, that won't be easy either.

Justme...

wired do you honestly think this is the first time they have discussed any of this with Mr. Fox?  They held executive session at the very beginning of all this, and Fox was there - right before they voted to send the report to the ethics commission.

Sold....Why would you think I will have to sit quietly?  I have no reason to speak publicly against your boy Fox.   BTW, will your wife stop by J Cap's afterwards like she did at the last special meeting? Or maybe you can wait til the end and walk out together like last time.

Ακόμη Sold σχετ...

TDN-

My comment was YOU would have to sit quietly, LIKE THE REST OF THE AUDIENCE, as the press release says.

Truth is it's the Huron Board of Education's meeting and they can allow, or not allow public input. It is entirely up to them.

You, TDN, are watching Nancy and John's activities a little too closely.. Like a stalker ? You know who they sit with.. where they go and even that they went on vacation ? And you attend board meetings.. Should be easy to spot you with your binoculars ?

I'm not a huge fan of either, although I do believe that she wants to be fair in every decision she has ever made. And.. Her husband is a great guy who was very successful in business before his retirement. But, TDN, I am not him or her.

Board members get input from many places. I am going to assume you know that John C. gets input from Nancy B.. lol

Ακόμη Sold σχετ...

TDN is now sitting quietly and intently at the site of the Huron Board of Education meeting watching the body language between Nancy B. and John C.

I, for one, can't wait to hear TDN's report on this meeting !

Justme...

If it turns out the accusations have no merit and can't be proven, I'll go along with your witch hunt theory.

I think this makes enough sense and deserves another posting. Thank you for your insight Mama ! (Why aren't so many of you making these connections ?)

wiredmama222 says

I asked this question about FOUR weeks ago. Why did the board not give him a list of their complaints and then let him answer them in executive session?

NOW they are doing it? After they have done an investigation, run to the state and inflammed the public, removed him from his job and put him on administrative leave?

This is backward! Someone on that board, maybe all, either got bad advice from an attorney or just plain didn't take it. This is what you do FIRST, not last. So now they HAVE to do it or they would be violating his rights. They are doing it very publically per his request. They screwed up, made it public and now the board is going to have to listen to the answers in public. How awful it will be to have to listen to the answers without a comment. To have to sit there without defending themselves will be hard. But that is what they have done to Fox for some time now.

You know, what goes around ,comes around and they will be on the receiving end at that meeting. What should have stayed in executive session and did not, will now become public rebuttal and they cannot answer. That won't be easy for some of them. Especially the ones who have been screaming the loudest .

And the public cannot ask questions. That won't be easy either. WOW. I would not want to be sitting in any board member's shoes at this one. Not for all the water surrounding Huron.

And want to add:

Fred Fox is answering his accusers 'in public' not in executive session as he should have been afforded to protect his privacy.

Just once people.. Put yourself in Fred Fox's shoes. I wouldn't want to wear them.

donutshopguy

Sold,

Who put Fred Fox in those shoes?

He did it to himself.

We don't have to wear them because we didn't put ourseleves in that position.

Ακόμη Sold σχετ...

DonutShopBro-

True.. He did walk where he wanted in those shoes, however, Fred Fox still should have been afforded the privacy of an executive session like any other employee in the Huron City Schools would have. Tim Sowecke made sure that that privacy was disregarded.

No matter what Fred Fox did, or did not do, he still should have been 'granted' an audience in executive session and be confronted by his accusers with somewhat of a shield of privacy.

No matter what Fred Fox did, or did not do, you are never going to convince me, (or his lawyers), that he should not have at least been able to answer the accusations in executive session before there was a press release.

The proof of this is that Fred Fox is still being paid.

Thanks for reading Donut..

Informed

And none of that changes what Fox did. This is nothing but a red herring or smoke screen. Fact 1--He had an affair using district email and time on a repeated basis over a long period of time. Fact 2--He took free/discounted golf. Both of those things are huge ethics violations and he should be terminated because of them, regardless of how the board handled it.

We can deal with the board when Fox is gone.

You are so angry. Relax Informed, justice will happen.

Fact 1 - Prove it.

Fact 2 - Who cares about discounted golf from a friend ? Are you upset the offer wasn't made to you ?

All in all what Fred Fox 'alledgidly' did, or did not do will most likely be addressed by Fred Fox himself tonight.

Stay tuned..

Informed

Sold, I don't have to prove Fact 1, the emails already do that.  In regard to Fact 2, it is black and white in the Code of Ethics that Fox cannot accept any gifts over $25 in value from anyone with which the district does business.  He did.

Justme...

Sold - please reread the letter and article.  He had the choice to respond in public, in writing or in executive session.  He CHOSE to respond in public.  Just one of the many mis-statements you have made...

Justme...

Sold are you sure they didn't give him the chance to defend himself before they forwarded the report to the ethics commission??  Cause I'm pretty sure they did - back in May.  3 hour executive session.  Its in the Register.

Of course I know where they went on vacation.  I depleted my savings acccount and followed them.  It wasn't easy to keep up, though.

They ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles and they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go.  They ran so fast that I couldn't catch them, on down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.
