A Huron woman remains in the intensive care unit in Toledo Monday afternoon after she struck a utility pole and a tree.

Jennifer E. Taylor, 35, 10000 block Wikel Road, was driving her 1994 Chevrolet S-10 truck south down Wikel Road when she went off the right side of road. It appears she drove down the shoulder of the road for 55 feet and sideswiped a utility pole with the right side of the truck.

The S-10 began to slide sideways for another 168 feet before it returned to the road. It continued across both lanes and off the left side of the road, where it struck a tree and came to a stop. An EMS crew treating her in an ambulance at the scene could smell alcohol.

Taylor was taken by medical helicopter from the scene to Mercy Saint Vincent Medical Center.

Deputies are waiting a toxicology report. Deputies charged her with failure to control and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
