Burglars stole jewelry, money and a gun from a home in Crystal Rock while the homeowner was in the hospital, according to an Erie County deputy’s report. Deputies went to the Fairview Avenue home Monday afternoon, after the woman noticed a number of items missing from a bedroom.

She told deputies she was in the hospital from April 28 to May 10, but up until recently she was staying with family. In the meantime, her sons were working on her home, the report said. In a back bedroom deputies noticed a window with a small break near the latch, likely where the burglar gained entry. They found no fingerprints, but the homeowner did find a glove that was not hers, the report said.

Among the stolen items were various pieces of jewelry worth a total of $1,500, as well as a deer rifle and a jar containing about $400, the report said. A bottle of medication was also stolen. The homeowner told deputies she suspects the burglar never left the bedroom, given that nothing else was missing from inside the home.

Deputies are still investigating the break-in.

If you have any friends, pay someone to sit in your house while you are out of it for any length of time. With all the drug addicts out there, it just isn't safe anymore and they are looking for easy marks.
