Drug, theft cases lead indictments

An Erie County grand jury handled a slew of drug- and theft-related incidents this month, including one fast food restaurant manager who allegedly looted her workplace’s safe to buy heroin.

Samantha Flesher, 32, 7000 block Joppa Road, was indicted on charges of safecracking, breaking and entering and petty theft.

Flesher, a former manager of the Taco Bell on Ohio 60 in Vermilion Township, was arrested in early February after one of her employees noticed more than $500 missing from the safe, according to an Erie County deputy’s report.

When the employee later asked Flesher about the missing cash, Flesher allegedly said she had a problem and was using dope again. After contacting Flesher’s supervisor, deputies reviewed surveillance footage, which showed her entering the store well before it opened.

Her supervisor said Flesher used her safe code to drain the safe and stole money from the cash drawers as well, the report said. During interviews, Flesher admitted to her alleged crimes, saying she indeed used the money for heroin, along with food and cigarettes. Flesher was originally arrested for safecracking and misdemeanor theft. An indictment is a formal charge and does not denote guilt or innocence.
