Nicholas Rhode, 16, was taken by ambulance to Firelands Regional Medical Center for treatment. His injuries did not appear lifethreatening, deputies said.
Rhode was driving a Honda Civic on Bogart Road when at about 9:25 p.m. he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The car went off the road and slammed into a utility pole, sustaining heavy front-end damage.
The cause of the crash remains unknown. High speed does not appear to be a factor, and no other vehicles were involved, deputies said.
It’s unknown if Rhode was wearing a seat belt.
