Miller won with about 61 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results.

There are no Democrats or independents in the race, so Miller’s victory means she’ll be taking over as Sandusky County’s auditor after longtime auditor Bill Farrell retires.

“I’m still in a little bit of a daze,” Miller said. “I’m very pleased”

Miller had said she was approached by local Republicans and asked to run. During the race, she stressed her qualifications as a CPA.

“A lot of people wanted somebody with the qualifications that I had” she said. “They wanted a CPA to run the office”

Miller is the executive director of the Sandusky County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“I told my board that I would stay on, I would help train the new person,” she said. “I don’t take office until March of 2015, so we have plenty of time to look for a new person”

Brown could not immediately be reached for comment on his cellphone.

During the campaign, he pointed out he had a long background in county government and had studied the county’s budget as part of his duties as the county administrator.
