Lytle ousted

Milan Township voters will see a slight change in leadership at township hall, with a newcomer besting an incumbent Tuesday evening, according to unofficial election results.

Incumbent Sparky Weilnau and challenger Mike Kegarise took the most votes, ousting trustee Frank Lytle in the three-way race.

Weilnau, a farmer, has served 15 years as township trustee.

“It’s great, what can you say?” Weilnau said. “The people voted, and I’m pleased with it.” With Kegarise, president of Precision Paving on Ohio 113 East in the township, Weilnau expects the board to continue to work well together.

“I’ve known Mike for a long time. I’m sure he’ll be a good trustee,” Weilnau said. “He’s a knowledgeable guy. He understands a lot of the things we do in the township.”

Kegarise could not be reached for comment Tuesday evening.
