Incumbent Samantha Ludwig managed to retain her seat in the third ward race, staving off challenger Shelley Robenalt in a 2-to-1 margin.

Ludwig attributed her success, in part, to the many third-ward residents who know and appreciate her efforts.

“I am from this area so many of the people that live in the Third Ward are familiar with me,” Ludwig said. “Also, I had a few articles in the newspaper that really highlighted why I’m so passionate and involved in Norwalk.”

And while five contenders battled it out for at-large seats on the Maple City’s council, only four walked away victorious.

Newcomer David Wallace edged out Scott Meyer, garnering almost 400 votes more than the incumbent.

Stephen Schumm, Stephen Euton and Kelly Beck all scored enough votes to secure another term in office.
