Erie County posts 72 percent turnout for election

A teacher might give Erie County residents a C grade — an OK, albeit disappointing mark — on its voter turnout rate for Tuesday's election.

Only about 38,750, or 72 percent, of the county's 54,000 registered voters actually submitted a ballot for the November 2012 election, local elections data shows.

That's the lowest voter turnout percentage in Erie County for a presidential election in 12 years.
