When?
How Much?

Jason Werling

Details, details. :) Sorry about that Sanduskybasketball2. There is no charge, but this isn't a performance, just an appearance.

swiss cheese kat

I'll pass.

Taxed Enough Already

me too. I never cared for her Janis Joplin style of singing.

Kelly

Who cares? The people weren't allowed to see the President but we should go see some loser from American Idol?

Sanduskybasketball2

Ill go, I was a fan since She first auditioned, when will she be making the appearance?

swiss cheese kat

It says 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in the article..

Sanduskybasketball2

yeah just saw it,
dag, I have to work lol

thinktwice

she'll fit raught in

SamAdams

I love how the Register tells us about things that are happening too late to make any plans to attend those things that are happening. Publishing information about the appearance TODAY doesn't do me a bit of good were I inclined to attend. I have other plans that have been in place for a couple of weeks and, while I might have rearranged things earlier, today is far too late for that!

That being said, I wouldn't go anyway. I thought Crystal Bowersox was terrificly talented on American Idol, and I still think she should have won (and had the show actually been based on talent, she would have). But all of the celebrities (or pseudo-celebrities) supporting the Obama campaign just make me sick. What do they know anyway, aside from how to sway the opinions of their just-as-ignorant-too-much-of-the-time fans? Though I understand that Bowersox was a single mom who received government aid prior to her stint on Idol which suddenly makes her support of the Food Stamp President kind of a given...

buckeye15

Do all the pseudo-celebrities endorsing Rmoney make you sick as well?

You know...like Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Clint Eastwood, Robert Duvall, Kelsey Grammer, Chuck Norris, Andy Garcia, Jon Voight, Patricia Heaton, Dean Cain, James Caan, Sylvester Stallone, Tom Selleck, Gary Sinese, James Woods, Erik Estrada, and Lorenzo Lamas, Jerry Bruckheimer, David Zucker, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Jon Cryer, Victoria Jackson, Angie Harmon, Gerald McRaney, Heidi Montag, Connie Stevens, Joe Eszterhas, Powers Booth, Scott Biao, John Ratzenberger, Dennis Miller, Drew Carey.

luvblues2

Actors need to stay out of politics and do what they do well. Political endorsement makes them look like a pile. My neighbor has as much convincing me how to vote as my ex wife's dog does. Just because somebody in the movie or TV industry has a POV will not change mine whatsoever. Are you that shallow, buckeye15?

buckeye15

Huh? In response to Sam Adams being disgusted by celebrities supporting the president, I pointed out that many others support the other candidate as well. And that makes me shallow how?

SamAdams

Yes, in the main, they do make me sick as well. There are exceptions to the rule on both sides of the aisle. For example, though I disagree with him, Ted Danson actually DOES have a certain amount of expertise where ocean pollution is concerned and thus his opinion at least has some informed basis. Martin Sheen has walked the walk for YEARS on nuclear issues. On the other side, Ted Nugent is a more than a little credible where 2nd Amendment issues are concerned, while Dennis Miller is both intelligent and has made a point of being far more well informed politically speaking than the vast majority of Americans.

What makes me sick — and I should have been more clear — isn't that celebrities have an opinion. Whatever I happen to think myself, we all have the right to support or oppose candidates or campaigns for any reason, or no reason at all (though the latter is what's gotten us into this mess in the first place). No, what's nauseating is those who go public with their support with no more expertise on a given issue than the average guy or gal on the street (which today isn't saying much), and are given so much credibility for their views solely because they're famous.

Huh. Maybe it's not the celebrities that make me sick after all, but those voters who blindly follow such celebrities without any rationale whatsoever other than, "Well, if Eva Longoria thinks Obama is hot, I should vote for him, too!"

I see your point, buckeye15, and you're right. Sorry for not make it clear that the sickness goes both ways and comes from both directions!

allrhetoricanyway

Crystal Bowersox is entertaining YOUR blogs are nauseating!!

buckeye15

Your response seemed very reasonable till you said Ted Nugent is credible on the 2nd Amendment.

What makes him credible? Is he a constitutional scholar? Or is it just because he loves to shoot guns and kill things? Or is it because he didn't bathe and crapped in his pants for 30 days before his military physical in order to get out of military service?

Or is it because he came out on stage in 2007 in full-on camouflage hunting gear, wielding two machine guns while raging, "Obama, he's a piece of s**t. I told him to suck on my machine gun. Hey Hillary," he continued. "You might want to ride one of these into the sunset, you worthless b**ch."

Or is it because he said in April: "If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will be either be dead or in jail by this time next year".

Or do you just like to sing along to Whang Dang Sweet Poontang?

The Big Dog's back

sam a, why is it entertainers on the right always seem to go over the edge? ted nugent, dennis miller, and the late ron silver couldn't just say they were for the Repub candidate, they had to go crazy.

buckeye15

I will offer up Crystal Bowersox as an excellent example to Republicans of the need for government assistance. She was struggling to support herself and family and utilized the aid that was available to her until she got the break she so richly deserved. Now she has a recording contract and is a productive, tax-paying member of society. I would say it was worth the investment in her.

That is kind of similar to the story I heard recently about JK Rowling, She lived off of government assistance while she was writing the book that would start her on the road to rich and famous. Again a very worthwhile investment by taxpayers (albeit in a different country).

Contango

@ buckeye15:

JK Rowling was on govt. assistance?

Good example to help illustrate that the UK is goin' down the fiscal tubes with the U.S.

No comparison of the number of "successes" to "failures."

Under Mr. Obama we have seen an explosion of entitlement spending:

"Between 2008 and 2011, federal welfare payments have jumped 32 percent. Food stamps have surged, with 71 percent more spending on the program in 2011 compared with 2008. Health payments, principally Medicaid, have climbed 37 percent."

Compared to the rest of the world, we are a nation of 'Haves' and 'Have Mores.'

I think you missed buckeye15's point. No, I am sure you did!

SamAdams

Nobody has, to the best of my knowledge, suggested that government assistance be cut in its entirety. You did, however, make the point that most conservatives have tried to make for years: Bowersox got assistance for awhile, but kept working. As a result, she ended up with one heck of a big break and she no longer NEEDS that assistance. That's how it's SUPPOSED to work! What I resent are those who use assistance as a LIFESTYLE. And I'm sorry to say that there are a whole heck of a lot of them out there! Along with truly useless government expenditures, it's those leeches on the system who are causing the system AND the country to dig itself ever deeper in debt.

deertracker

Give me one example of someone you know that has been on welfare for life.

The Big Dog's back

Crystal is definitely worth the investment. That's all most people are looking for, a hand up the ladder. Go Crystal.

grandmasgirl

I personally think that if you have ever been on public assistance and then become famous (and rich) you should have to pay back the money that the government gave you. This includes athletes who received scholarships to college. I know that it won't happen, but it would be nice if they volunteered to do so of their own free will.

buckeye15

I find it hilarious how everyone loved Ms. Bowersox when she was on TV, but all of a sudden when they find out she is supporting our president it becomes:

"loser" and "who cares"

Kelly

I never loved her and she did lose.

Mr. D

Aww, you're just jealous. . . sip some tea. . .

ladydye_5

I never cared for her or her music, and I am sorry she did lose. She did it the right way...she didnt STAY on assistance, she used the help and got OFF assistance. TOO many think that government assistance is a way of life.

deertracker

Your last sentence is UNTRUE!

Kelly

No, it ISN'T!

But for many it is multi generational.

Just saying!

starryeyes83

NOt everyone, I never watched her, so there goes your theory, What little I have heard, I don't like.

steelersfan71

Really Obama has Bill Clinton Bruce Springsteen and now Crystal Bowersocks with that kind of talentless line up I keep feeling better about my decision to vote Mitt Romney.

deertracker

Spoken from a "steelersfan".....lol

Cobbwebb12345

KELLY, I am very sorry for you, such an unhappy person.

Kelly

LOL I'm quite happy, thanks.

Mr. D

Just jealous!!! Have some more tea!!!

Kimo

Re: "ex wife's dog"

ex wife....

smart woman that has a smart dog........ LOL

luvblues2

Her dog died way too fat and early. She herself died from the 17th overdose of painkillers that she was addicted to for years at the age of 45. Yeah, real smart, Kimo...

Kimo

Crystal.....
You go girl.......

themomx6

Well, I REALLY like Crystal Bowersox, but who she, or an other "celebrity" is voting for, means nothing to me. I'm voting for Romney because that's MY decision, NOT because some "celebrity" (who I doubt is any more intelligent than me) tells me to.

deertracker

That's what everyone should do. Vote your choice! If there is a girl in the "6" why not make sure that at the proper age she will have complete control over her own body? Imagine that in a free society!

Kelly

What's the "6" ?

deertracker

"themomx6"????

Swamp Fox

Her career really must have taken off if she available to be in Sandusky on a Saturday, loser supporting losers.....

The Big Dog's back

Or you could be a loser supporting a loser (rmoney) at 9:32am on a Saturday.

Swamp Fox

Or you could be an ex union hack who only supports losers all the time.....

sanduskysteve

The biggest joke is Ted Nuggent supporting Romney - funny how the draft dodgers all stick together - but insist on pushing for more military action at the drop of a hat. LOL

Kelly

You could have just ended that with Ted Nugent. You didn't really need to elaborate. Everyone thinks he's a joke.

starryeyes83

okay who is she again? And I would care because why?

The Bizness

I know there are some people that use Gov. Assistance too much but I do think that there is a misconception out there that the majority of people do. I have seen how many people in low income situations live first hand and it is by no means a glamorous life style. Many of them do have jobs, and they are not ones you and I want. Such as working as a cook, cleaning hotel rooms, working at convenience stores, janitorial work, and yes they do get some sort of government assistance but I do not think most of them are happy with it. There are people that do game the system but the majority do not.

I want to see a way to give assistance to ONLY the people that need it and keep it out of the hands of the people that don't but I don't know how that is possible.

I

One of the Toledo TV channels did a story about her appearance. It looked like fewer than ten people were there. Like Obama's visit, it must have been by invitation only...very exclusive.

Swamp Fox

The Bizness, I saw the same TV clip, those 10 thought it was a free cheese giveaway.

Government social programs, should be a safety net for those who really need them, not a life time hammock....

The percentages must be close. Every other time I shop at Meijer’s, before my receipt for food “I PAID FOR” comes out of the printer an EBT receipt falls out first for food or whatever else someone in front of me put in a bag “I PAID FOR”

Just saying!

eriemom

We all paid for that food. We take care of the people in our community. Food, not a gold watch.

I grew extra vegetables this summer and donated them. What have you done to contribute to your community, other than complain about the poor taking your money to buy food?

Kelly

They need to get a job, or a seond job, or a third job and sell plasma like I did, and buy their own food.

Mr. D

Thats why you are jealous of Crystal, she made it and you didn't!!! Stop drinkin the tea, you'll become a better person!!! and grow some xtra veggies for the poor, you'll feel better about yourself!!!

$1000.00 to local curch food banks during the Holiday Seasons. This way I know how it is distributed and used and other philanthropic deeds you will never know about in my comunity. You need to see my taxes?

What I see and have seen personaly is people in fancy leather coats driving high end cars buying food with EBT cards then going to the next register to pay for smokes with cash.

A friend owns a convieient store in Cleveland and there is a huge underground economy with people working for cash and living off my taxes receiving free food cads. Keep growing the vegies, it helps, maybe those you hand them too can till your garden, working for things is the nateral way you know.

Just saying!

Mr. D

Sure they aren't cheap vinyl coats? Define a high end car. . . If you have any clue about card swipe machines at checkouts you would know the system automatically separates EBT eligible items and those not eligible ringing them up separatley. No need to go to another register. More teatard jibberish!!"

CAST THE FIRST STONE

I can sing so i am smart and can tell you who to vote for. If this would influence a vote that would be nuts

Mr. D

@cast. . . Cool, if you sing so well, audition for idol!!!

What does all these people have in common? They make their living being "porn" stars and they all support Obama, how proud the left must be..

Hey you do call yourselves progressives now, I guess this proves it...

I am not familiar with any of these "stars" I guess I will have to defer to my left wing friends for a review of their professional talents...

Mr. D

Swampy, you must own lots of their videos. We know how you spend your nights!!!

Kimo

Every election promises are made to be broken by both parties.
Welfare reform has been kicked around for the last 50 years.

When it's all said and done, more will be said than done.

That said....... Wish Crystal the best..........you go girl !!!

Kimo

Re:make their living being "porn" stars

We know what you watch.........

LOL

Minuteman

Celebs always have a following that will vote blindly for who they endorse. Of course they have no qualification many times, but that's how it works. I would go if she would sing at least one song. But just a political pep rally, nope. She's a singer, that doesn't magically make her all knowing in the political arena. Besides, everyone already has their mind made up on who will get their vote. Those who needed her to make up their mind should be few and far between.

44846GWP

She has as much qualifications as anybody else who votes! Why all the nasty comments? If she was for Romney some of you would be kissing her butt.

luvblues2

Did someone say I should write in Daffy Duck? Or was it Bugs Bunny?
