Gregory Crayton, 46, 1800 block Fifth St., was charged with one count of animal cruelty.

The Erie County Dog Warden and prosecutor agreed to file charges on Crayton after a neighbor reported his dog was left outside without adequate food, shelter or water on Nov. 18, the report said.

Officers were called back to Crayton’s home at 10 a.m. Sunday, after someone reported Crayton’s dog was again left without food and water, the report said. Officers said the animal appeared cold, but was in overall good spirits.

They hauled Crayton off to the Erie County jail, where he was served his charge and released.

Did the dog get removed from his home?

deertracker

If the dog was in good spirits, MYOB!

Kelly

Friend of yours?

deertracker

Nope!

Unassumer

maybe it was his dog!

deertracker

Maybe it's not my business or yours!

mimi's word

NO WE WILL NOT MYOB!!!! Have you ever see a dog who have been beaten and abused??? Their spirits are not always broken and they are usually in good spirits because that is the difference betwen man and dog...you can keep beating them and they WILL still love you, most humans do not comprehend the true abundance of love that a dog can give! Shame on you DEER TRACKER, shame!

Dont Worry Be Happy

This is very true mi mi. Dogs will still love after being severely abused because all they want is to be loved. Many can be timid after abuse it just depends what kind of abuse they have been through.

LabMan

Absolutely correct ! Probably lick your hand in between blows. Well said mimi

deertracker

MYOB! Why would any animal be in good spirits if it was abused and beaten? MYOB! I had lots of dogs as a kid and most of them lived outside. When the neighbor kid threw rocks at one while he was tied up as soon as he was untied one day and the kid walked into the yard he bit him. There was no licking of the hand! You know it all dog owners are annoying!

Kelly

Not as annoying as you people that condone animal abuse

mimi's word

No people like you that treat everything like it is a possession is annoying! First off maybe years and years ago when you were a child the kid would have gotten bit and it be ok...NOW the dog would likely be put down and the owner sued for vicious animal! Animals do treat others who treat them poorly nice because they have been raised in that situation and do not know better!!! Do you take the I am so much better than you stance with everything that is abused or just an animal since it is easily replaced for you? Hopefully you have NO animals now!

deertracker

BOO HOO! MYOB!

KnuckleDragger

First of all, the law sees animals as possessions. Get over it!!! Second, as deertracker said MYOB. Putting a dog outside for a couple of hours without a food and water dish in this weather is not abuse and will not hurt them if they are being taken care of properly. Do you need to be fed and watered every couple of hours? Nothing worse than some sanctimonious animal rights nut who believes they now it all.

LabMan

We are talking about the dogs so called "master", who the dog looks forward to them feeding and sheltering them properly and not some neighborhood kid.

deertracker

Do you really believe you can beat and abuse your dog and he'll just take it because you feed him? GET REAL! Dogs are very smart. Especially LABS! We are not talking about a child that depends on it's mother.

LabMan

I believe that is true but I have never tied a dog up outside period and then without shelter or food or ever beat them so I have no first hand knowledge. I am what they call a responsible dog owner. I as well hope you own no dogs or pets period.

mimi's word

Labs are smart, but if he is tied up and doesn't get fed or watered or treated properly what is he gonna do? Call the cops? Write a strong letter to the owner threatening to strike? Run away and get killed by a car? Or maybe put to sleep in a kill shelter? It depends on others, humans who care, to step up and demand justice when abuse occurs!

deertracker

What is he supposed to do, let the dog run loose? Outside dogs have to be restrained. Sadly, run away and get killed by a car is a real possibility if he is not restrained. Since when are animals entitled to justice?

KnuckleDragger

She would be the first one on here complaining if the dog was running loose and either was killed or bit someone. SMH.

LabMan

Leave him in the house or how about a 4 x 8 tarped roof kennel dog run and a igloo dog house with straw in the dog house or possibly a fence? My 3 labs each have one and do it for the 8+ hours we work....when we are home they are in the house with the pack. If you cannot afford to properly care for a dog ....do not get one. And this guy fits the bill as well as you!

Unassumer

I agree!

Oh my say it isn't so Greg, you don't need a animal if you can't care for it correctly. Punishment should be to be left in same circumstance as dog. People change I remember Greg as a upstanding guy what a shame

KnuckleDragger

Greg still is a good guy. He just happens to have a nosy neighbor.

OHIOHOOSIER76

This state needs much stiffer penalties for animal cruelty

Unassumer

some animals are always in good spirits even if neglected or abused and maybe are reaching out for help that way. so say no to MYOB! I think I'll make bumper stickers! taking orders now!

deertracker

Name one!

nosey rosey

And we will all MYOB when someone decides to do the same to you. I hope you don't have any pets because they certainly deserve someone better than you.

deertracker

Woof!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't even try to raise yourself up to the level of a dog...you couldn't get that high!

Sal Dali

Here's your one (of many) mistreated animals that still trust humans after being abused. http://hendrickboards.com/save-ari If you still feel the same way after viewing this you need to find a heart. Companion animals rely on their caretakers for everything, just as children do; do you applaud child abusers as well? People should not mind their own business when it comes to the abuse of any living creature with fur...or without.

deertracker

It was a STRAY and an extreme case. MYOB!

Sal Dali

You have no heart or conscience. It is an extreme case, however, there are many others just like like it; this happens daily and is not an isolated incident. People just like you probably turning them out onto the streets without a second thought. These animals do not magically drop out of the sky from nowhere to live and starve to death on the streets. He belonged to someone at some point until he was put out on the street. Either you live a sheltered life or are completely devoid of compassion and are capable of the same actions. Maybe it was you your childhood dog bit for throwing rocks at it and not some neighborhood boy? If you don't like dogs move on to something else you do care about; it doesn't appear anyone else posting sees things your way either. How about you MYOB!

BEHAPPY

WHEN IS THE DOG GOING TO BE REMOVED FROM THIS ABUSE??????????

I hope Deertracker dosen't own any animals, he has no heart. Just from his rants, I wouldn't trust him around an animal.
