The boys, both 14, one of Remington Avenue and one of Milan Road, were each charged with two counts of felony burglary.
A Remington Avenue woman left her apartment at 7:30 p.m. and returned just six minutes later to find her door kicked in, according to a Sandusky police report. The woman discovered her 52-inch flat screen TV was missing from the living room.
Officers checked a nearby vacant apartment, where they promptly found the television, Sandusky police Detective Dana Newell said.
A tipster at the property told police the two boys might be to blame, and detectives found them elsewhere in the apartment complex, Newell said. By matching the shoeprints left on the woman’s door with the shoes still on the boys’ feet, officers determined both suspects were involved in the theft, Newell said.
