Sandusky officers first went to the woman’s Reese Street home at about 8 p.m. Monday evening, after Irby allegedly broke into her home to talk about their former relationship.
The woman insisted Irby leave, but called police when he refused several times, according to a Sandusky police report.
He was later taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center, the report said.
On Tuesday morning, however, the ex-girlfriend saw Irby outside her house again. He entered her house a second time but left when she threatened to call police, the report said.
At 11 a.m. Tuesday he entered the house a third time. The woman, who was asleep in bed, awoke suddenly with Irby standing over her, the report said.
Irby described to her how he climbed through a window in her closet to get inside.
The pair argued, and when she said she was calling police, Irby allegedly grabbed the phone and threw it aside. He then picked up a large kitchen knife and began walking toward her while yelling, the report said.
The woman fell down as she dodged his advances, but by that time she had dialed police and Irby fled, the report said.
Irby went to the Sandusky police station about two hours later. He said the woman slashed the knife at him, then threw it toward him, the report said.
Irby was held at the Erie County jail on $36,000 bond.
