Robert Snyder, 61, of Shelby, was charged with failure to control a vehicle and leaving a crash scene.
A motorist called police at about 11:30 p.m. and said there was a truck stuck in the intersection, but the truck quickly started to drive south on Ohio 4.
Officers caught up within minutes and pulled the vehicle over. Snyder acknowledged the accident, although when police asked why he didn’t report the crash, he replied, “I don’t know, I can’t answer that,” the report said.
Snyder said the passenger side of his truck struck a guardrail after he turned south onto Ohio 4 from Bogart Road, but he thought he left enough room to clear it, the report said. Officers said the guardrail sustained substantial damage.
